Chinese manufacturer Huawei announced that they will be free of US technology by 2021. Zhang Minggang, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Huawei France mentions that they will be stronger than ever by then. With all the restrictions and bans due to the trade war with the US, it’s hardly surprising that the company wants out.

 Huawei’s HongMeng OS is expected to launch on the 9th of August at Huawei’s largest Developers Conference. It's been reported that the OS has been tested on the Huawei Mate 30 and has been tested out by a select few. 

The 9th of August is a pretty important day for Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Huawei. The company will be launching its largest global developers conference in China. What seems to be the main highlight of the event would the company’s OS, HongMeng. Many are speculating that the OS may be launched then. 

The US government's ban on Huawei which forced Google to sever ties with Huawei have left many smartphone owners worried. Initially, Google had removed Huawei devices from their Android Q list but we’re beginning to see some Huawei devices making a comeback onto said list.

The biggest problem with launching a phone OS is not the technical bits but rather the building of the ecosystem. The OS would not be successful without apps on it and Huawei definitely sees this. As a step to overcome the problem, the Chinese manufacturer invites partners and developers to join the “Ark of Friends Circle” to help build a “fair, open, healthy and win-win” ecosystem. Huawei’s Ark Compiler is set to be officially open source starting this August. 

Looks like Huawei laptops will continue to work smoothly for users as both Microsoft and Intel confirm that they will be continuing their updates and support for the Chinese manufacturer. Both companies will be providing security updates for Huawei’s devices that come with Windows 10 and Intel processors. 

While Huawei is still within the previous 90-day ban delay, Russell T. Vought, acting director of the Office of Management and Budget has called for a 2-year delay on the ban for Huawei as it would impact American companies (yes, US companies sell a lot to Huawei) and US rural telcos (yes, they also use a lot of 3G/4G Huawei networking equipment). You can read the quote below, but it basically means that banning one of the largest smartphone makers and leading networking companies in the world immediately isn’t such a good or feasible idea.

Despite the support Huawei has been receiving, HONOR President, Zhao Ming is currently looking into adjusting the company’s internal goals. He mentioned that it is still too soon to say if the Chinese manufacturer can still achieve its goals but admitted that things aren’t looking too good. They are currently reassessing their goal of overtaking Samsung in the near future.

Malaysia’s Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamed has expressed his support for Huawei and so are other Malaysians. In a show of solidarity for the brand, some Malaysian eateries are giving discounts for customers who are using Huawei devices as well as Huawei employees.

The SD card Association had recently removed Huawei from their list of partners but it seems like that has changed (perhaps due to some Huawei patents?). In the 1000 list of parties on the company’s official website, Huawei’s name is once again listed. The same goes with the WiFi Alliance sponsor list (guess all that research budget helped out).
