Although this is only available on the Nothing Phone (2) in selected regions, this is the first time that an Android brand did it. But in a surprise turn of events, Apple announced that it will support RCS (Rich Communication Services) next year.

During the antitrust trial between Apple and Epic, there were a few documents from Apple which revealed that iMessage was not made available to Android devices even though the app did not run into incompatibility issues. This is largely due to the orders made by Apple executives to keep iMessage exclusive to the iOS platform, making it harder for existing iOS users to migrate to Android-powered smartphones.
