To mark Malaysia’s 68th year of independence, global mobility platform inDrive is rolling out a patriotic gesture that puts drivers first. From 30 August to 1 September 2025, inDrive will slash its commission rate to just 6.8%.

Back in May 2025, there was news about inDrive needing to cease its operations in Malaysia, but that was not really the case. Today, the company announced it has officially secured approval from Malaysia’s Ministry of Transport (MoT) and the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) to continue its operations, following a regulatory review.

A few days ago, we published a piece of recent news about InDrive and Maxim ceasing operations in Malaysia. With that, we just got in touch with Maxim Malaysia, addressing the matter. Below is a clarification letter to offer accurate information and context regarding this topic.

Previously, we reported that e-hailing company InDrive was issued a termination notice by the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) due to failure to comply with regulations. Now, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook has given further announcement on the matter, revealing that InDrive, alongside another Russian e-hailing company, Maxim, must cease operations in Malaysia on 24 July 2025.

The Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) has issued a termination notice against InDrive Malaysia for its Intermediation Business License (IBL). Furthermore, the company was given a 3 months deadline for failing to comply with regulations introduced in 2019.

International ride-hailing service inDrive has officially been in Malaysia since 2021 and is looking to further solidify its position in our country this year. Its macroregional director for Asia Pacific, Mark Tolley, said that inDrive expects to exceed 40,000 registered drivers by the end of 2025.
