Pokemon Go could be accidentally banning Xiaomi users following recent update

Launched in 2016, Pokemon Go has captured the hearts of millions of players worldwide over the last three years thanks to its unique gameplay style and strong global Pokemon fanbase. Unfortunately for certain Xiaomi smartphone users, Niantic's brainchild seems to be banning users based on their choice of phone following their recent 10.3.2 update. The Xiaomi Redmi 5 in particular, seems to be most affected by the suspensions, and the culprit might be the update itself or their Game Booster feature.

Being a Pokémon fan myself, I never really thought I'd see the day like that would happen, but the game still has a lot of work to do.

Keep in mind that we won't be including upcoming known features such as a new sight tracking system, PvP/PvE (player vs player or environment), trading, upcoming future Pokémon generations and others. So without further ado, here are the top 5 features that we think the app should have.

Watch out for Pokemon Go fakes!

While Malaysians and many other markets in the world wait for Niantic Labs to make Pokemon Go available officially, a number of Pokemon Go fakes have apparently appeared on the Play Store. According to the online security folks from ESET, one of them was "Pokemon Go Ultimate" which renames itself as "PI Network" after installation and runs in the background while clicking porn ads online. One step away from being Malware, "Pokemon Go Ultimate" could only be removed using Android Device Manager or pulling out the battery.

Pokemon Go: Still not officially available yet in Malaysia, but you can be the first to know!

Pokemon Go is sweeping the world as people go hunt Pokemon in real life. Along the way, Pokemon Go players have discovered dead bodies, been robbed and more but Malaysia still isn't officially supported. Granted, you can download an APK and sideload it, but be wary of Malware and possible repurcussions from Niantec when it does finally become official, which is rumoured to be the next few days.

In the meantime you can go register your email and you'll be one of the first to know if Pokemon Go is officially available in Malaysia. The game is still available to iOS and Android devices and appears to be technically based on Niantec's earlier AR game, Ingress.
