Previously, we reported on European Union (EU) passing a law which makes USB-C mandatory for the charging of devices, a rule that even Apple said it has “no choice but to comply”.  Well, a similar law has also been passed in India and smartphone manufacturers have been told that they have a deadline of March 2025 to comply with the new requirement.

Chinese chip manufacturing giant SMIC recently posted its earnings for the first quarter of 2022 which saw a whopping year-on-year increase of 62.6 percent. However, despite the company’s immense growth, SMIC is actually projecting a terrible year for smartphone sales worldwide, claiming that it will drop by some 200 million units.

Like Apple and HUAWEI, OPPO might also venture into the electric car business in the future. According to the latest report, the company has filed a trademark for the name "OCAR", which could be telling us that the smartphone manufacturer might already start working on its car project.

These days, collaborations between companies are more diverse than before. Many of them are partnering up with other companies that have nothing similar at all. For instance, fashion brands can be teamed up with food manufacturers like what Supreme and Oreo did to bring us those expensive red-coloured Oreo cookies. Now, we have a new collaboration coming soon which appears to be a partnership between Maybank and realme.
