The time to see whether Samsung can regain user confidence on its mobile chipset is near. We have been seeing rumours of the Exynos 2100 chipset since October, but now we're getting official confirmation straight from the horse's mouth: Exynos 2100 is launching in January 2021.

Samsung announced that a whole new Exynos is coming on 12 January 2021, in an official Twitter post yesterday night. While the model name was not mentioned, it's pretty much a given that this is the Exynos 2100 chipset. Multiple sources have also claimed that the Galaxy S21 series that will feature this chipset will launch two days later on 14 January 2021.

The Exynos 2100 chipset is expected to be on par with the Snapdragon 888 chipset, at least in terms of performance. For reference, it scored 1006 points for single-core and 3059 points for multi-core in Geekbench. In contrast, a Snapdragon 888-powered Galaxy S21 scored 1075 (single-core) and 2916 (multi-core) respectively. The Exynos seems to lead in multi-core, while the Snapdragon performs better in single-core performance.

Well, GPU and battery performance has yet to be seen, but so far the Exynos 2100 looks promising. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
