Interesting things you can find out up close with super macro mode

PicsArt_01-02-10.59.25.jpg

We've already seen a little bit of what the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and other Mate 20 series smartphones can do with their new LEICA Triple rear cameras and Super Macro mode with our previous close-up photos. Capable of going from wide-angle to a super close 2.5cm away, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and the Super Macro mode really lets you get up close without having to use any extra macro lens.

However, there's a whole bunch of other interesting things you can find out if you really can go up as close as the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. Taking that into account we went even closer than before to see what else you can find with Super Macro mode. Check them out in no particular order below.

#1. The name of the first Agong is on the ringgit

PicsArt_01-02-11.38.37.jpg

Can you find it?

Visible on nearly all Malaysian ringgit notes, the portrait of the first Agong of Malaysia, Seri Paduka Baginda Yang DiPertuan Agong Pertama Tuanku Almarhum Abdul Rahman ibni Tuanku Muhammad is not only visible as a shadow when you shine light on the back, his name is also hidden in the portrait. Just go close with your Mate 20 series smartphone, let the Super Macro mode engage and snap, for those who can't see it, it’s written within the tengkolok or head dress, following the curve of the line.

Useful security or anti-counterfeit feature? We don't know, but it is certainly a cool thing to be able to find his name hidden on your ringgit note. There's also a whole bunch of other hidden things on our ringgit that you probably didn't know about, so feel free to take the Super Macro mode for a spin and see what other things you can find.

There it is hidden in the Tengkolok

#2. These aren't the fork and spoon you're looking for

At first glance, this fork and spoon seem clean enough, but if you look a bit closer, the dish washer definitely missed a couple of spots here and there. Sure, we know when you're hungry, you might just grab whatever utensil is available but you should probably pick a different pair than these 2.

 PicsArt_01-02-11.42.46.jpg

Truth be told, I just picked this up without looking, but upon closer inspection of the fork, I quickly changed it

#3. The importance of washing your vegetables first

 PicsArt_01-02-11.44.45.jpg

Cherry tomatoes can be small and sweet

Fresh vegetables can be great healthy snacks but you should always wash your vegetables first. A closer look at this cherry tomato reveals what looks like dust or fibers from the cloth it was collected in. So, if you were to pop this one into your mouth you'd not only be eating healthy tomato, but bits of dust or cloth fibers too.

You should probably wash this one more thoroughly first.

#4. There's more sugar on our foods than you think

 PicsArt_01-02-11.45.55.jpg

Fancy a slice of dried pineapple

Following on with being careful about what you put into your mouth, a closer look at this dried pineapple piece reveals that it is literally crusted in sugar. So much so that you can see individual grains of sugar. Too much sugar is definitely not good for you, so even if the dried pineapple does offer plenty of fiber, you should probably reduce how much you eat due to the coating of sugar.

That's a lot of sugar! Having second thoughts?

#5. Some insects have hairy legs

 PicsArt_01-02-11.47.38.jpg

To be a fly on the wall... or in this case, a pole in the MRT

Most insects are tiny things, so much so that their legs seem like smooth slivers. A closer look at the legs of a fly reveal that its legs are actually quite hairy or seems to be, but this is probably because flies tend to taste their food with their feet.

What hairy legs you have, Mr Fly

#6. Flowers come in many sizes

 PicsArt_01-02-11.51.01.jpg

How small is that yellow flower?

At first glance, this little yellow flower is laying on a piece of wood, but upon closer inspection, the wood is actually a twig and the flower is even smaller than you first thought. It's so small that you can actually see the cobwebs stuck around the twig, but flowers can certainly come in many sizes.

Very small actually

#7. Life and hope can be found in the most unlikely of places

 PicsArt_01-02-11.52.02.jpg

Life will find a way

Plant life can find hope and grow in various places as these photos show. Take a closer look next time and you can see these pretty plants grow in wood, rock and more. If they can live like that, maybe we should take a closer look at our own lives and see if we can't find some life and hope for ourselves too.

Take a closer look next time.

Even here.
