The new Sony PlayStation 5 has proven elusive for many, but it's probably not going to be the only one. Rumours of a next-gen Nintendo Switch have been around for months and it looks like we'll have to wait longer.
According to Takahashi Mochizuki (Bloomberg reporter), a new Nintendo Switch is not coming anytime soon. This was revealed during a Q&A session at the latest Nintendo financial earnings call. If you take the phrasing at face value, there's still a chance for a 4K-capable Nintendo Switch to be launched in 2021. It just won't be anytime soon.
Q: new model this year?
— Takashi Mochizuki (@6d6f636869) February 1, 2021
A: not planning to make an annoucement anytime soon as we have Mario ver in Feb, MH ver in Mar.
Hint: Nintendo chief last year said not planning to release new model in 2020. Today's was just "not anytime soon." So, that means...?https://t.co/MQkwskXYrn
Nintendo also confirmed that it plans to launch Mario and Monster Hunter bundles for the Switch Enhanced edition in February and March 2021. On top of that, a previous rumour claimed this so-called Switch Pro could be available in 1H 2021. In that case, could it launch in Q2 of 2021? Of course, it could also launch later in 2H 2021 instead.
Honestly, Nintendo should make an announcement sooner than later. This ensures that people who want the new model won't buy a current-gen model now, then end up regretting it later. But with that said, would you just settle for the current model or wait for the Pro model? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned to TechNave for more updates.
