OPPO Reno video leaks a weird pop up selfie camera and may feature copper liquid tube cooling

We had an idea that the OPPO Reno may feature a pop up camera as we have seen the device leaked showing off a completely bezel-less display but we weren’t sure how it may be implemented. A leaked hands on video surfaced this morning, showing off a triangular pop up selfie camera on the OPPO Reno.

Most pop up camera smartphones opt for a square or rectangular pop up mechanism coming out from either the top left, right or middle of the device. The OPPO Reno took a whole new route, going with a triangular pop up with the pointy part popping up to the right of the device.

From what we know, the pop up mechanism houses a 16MP camera sensor and a LED flash. The reasoning behind the triangular shape of the pop up mechanism is due to the fact that the earpiece module is also housed in there and remains visible on the frame of the device after the module goes back into place. This may possibly be due to the fact that OPPO is trying to provide users a true infinity display by removing it from the top of the device.

The 10 second video also shows off the back of the OPPO Reno which features a dual camera setup aligned vertically without the thick black frame, making the back look extremely sleek. The back also shows off a shiny streak running from the top and center of the smartphone all the way to the bottom. It also has a circular bump on the back, right underneath the camera setup which we believe is the flash. We think the device shown off the in the video may be the OPPO Reno Lite due to the dual rear camera setup. This particular model of the OPPO Reno may feature the Snapdragon 710.

In addition, the OPPO Reno may also be released with copper liquid tube cooling. The Snapdragon 710 and Snapdragon 855 variants of the device may be coming with two different cooling systems, according to OPPO Vice President, Shen Yiren. A heat conducting gel and graphite sheet type cooling technology will be applied for the Snapdragon 710 variant of the OPPO Reno while the Snapdragon 855 variant may be released with a copper tube liquid cooling heat sink. It is unsure why the two devices carry two different cooling technologies but it may be due to the fact that the Snapdragon 855 variant of the device may be marketed more for gaming due to the better cooling technology applied.

The OPPO Reno is set to be released on the 10th of April which happens to coincide with Samsung’s A Galaxy Event. We do know that there will be many varieties of the OPPO Reno that will be released, each catering to a different demography with one variant rocking the 10x lossless zoom technology they showcased in MWC 2019 recently and the devices may be released with the Super VOOC 3.0 fast charging technology.
