Redmi X is actually named Redmi K20, features Snapdragon 855 and 48MP camera

We finally have the name for Redmi’s upcoming Snapdragon 855 smartphone, the Redmi K20. This isn’t surprising as photos had emerged showing off the plastic cover of the smartphone bearing the name. Personally, I thought Redmi X sounded way cooler.

Why the name? According to Weibing, the K series is Redmi’s performance flagship line and K stands for killer. Kind of dramatic but makes sense considering Redmi’s flagship specs with competitive prices. The number 20 has no particular reason other than to compete with Huawei as the company is learning from Huawei’s approach to marketing

Cited from sources, the Redmi K20 may have features that may include GPU overclocking, an in-display fingerprint reader, an ultrawide lens, full infinity display with a pop up selfie camera, 3.5mm headphone jack and is optimized for gaming. As for its tech specs, we may be seeing 8GB RAM + 128/256GB of internal storage variants, a 6.39 inch display and NFC. Camera-wise, we’ll be seeing a triple rear camera setup 48MP + 13MP + 8MP sensors whereas the selfie camera may be released with a pretty impressive 32MP.

The device may be released in 3 colour variants namely Carbon Black, Glacier Blue, and Flame Red. Unfortunately, no release date or pricing has been released for the device but we’ll be sure to update you on TechNave.com once we know. Are you excited for Redmi’s K series?
