General Manager of Redmi, Lu Weibing had always loved teasing and sharing some secrets about their upcoming devices. Today, he took to Weibo to share about 3 areas Redmi had been working on improving in regards to their upcoming Redmi Snapdragon 855 device which was previously thought to be the Redmi X.
The three areas involves gaming, charging and frequency reduction. He mentioned that the upcoming device’s AnTuTu score is “scary” which had led many to believe that is may be over 400000 possible due to the fact that the device's GPU can be overclocked. In terms of design, the device will be released with a completely notchless display with a pop up selfie camera. An on-display fingerprint reader may be present on the device. Camera-wise, the device may be released with a 48MP sensor. There has been rumours noting that the device may be released with the same camera setup as the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE which comes with a triple rear camera setup with 48MP + 8MP (telephoto) + 13MP (wide-angle) sensors.
There are also rumours that the device may be released with Android Q support out of the box. The rumour was hinted by Xiaomi President, Lin Bin, who mentioned that the Xiaomi Mi 9 and Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G can already utilize the Android Q update. He mentions, “You can download the beta and try it but I heard that the flagship of friends is also very powerful. When you come up, there will be an Android Q Beta Brush Pack. Everyone is looking for Liu Weibing to verify.”
This statement seems to point at the Redmi 855 being able to utilize the software as soon as it is launched. However, there’s still no concrete info or announcements so far so do take this article with that guy who says “salt” in Star Wars. The device has been speculated to be revealed on the 14th of May but as the date grows closer, we may not be hearing about it that soon. Would you purchase this device just to game on?
