Many people will try to reduce their spending in 2021. This is why more affordable smartphones could be more popular choices this year. In fact, Xiaomi is expected to launch more flagship-class devices that are relatively affordable.

According to Gizchina, Redmi brand manager Lu Weibing has mentioned that a Redmi gaming phone is on the way. This smartphone is expected to sport MediaTek's new Dimensity 1200 5G chipset, which has performance on par with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870. What's great is that the phone should be notably more affordable, compared to a device powered by the new Snapdragon 888.

Besides the chipset, it was rumoured that this Redmi gaming phone will have a battery capacity of at least 4500mAh. In our opinion, this could be the so-called Redmi K40 variant that was previously rumoured. It's just that Xiaomi has now confirmed that it would be released as a separate product line that could launch with the Redmi K40 series.

It's always good to hear of cheaper flagship-class smartphones, and we're quite keen to see how well these Dimensity 1200-powered devices could perform. But would you be interested in buying such a phone? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned to TechNave for more updates on this.
