Yesterday, we reported that the iPhone 15 series battery life has no changes when compared to its predecessors. While that's kind of a letdown, there is a feature that will let users have the option to limit the maximum battery charge of their preference.
That being said, the feature is not out yet as it was found on iOS 17 RC by developers. The code indicates that the option will be launched in the Battery settings menu and this will let users preserve the battery health. If the users turn it on, the system will notify them that the battery "will only charge to about X%".
This is quite similar to the Optimised Battery Charging feature, in which the iPhone learns of the user's daily charging routine and habits. However, it will always pass 80% thus, decreasing the battery health overall. With the new unreleased option, users can set a limit to a fixed battery charging level.
On top of that, the new A17 Pro chipset may also assist in handling the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max's battery life longer. From the presentation, it's said to distribute power consumption more efficiently but that remains to be seen.
