YES 4G LTE mobile plans by YTL coming to Malaysia in full unequivocal force on 30 June 2016

After the recent co-launch with Samsung Malaysia's Galaxy J 2016 series last week, YTL recently held a buka puasa to fete Malaysia's media and in turn reveal some of their plans for Malaysia's future YES mobile 4G LTE users. Granted, they themselves have admitted that they have been relatively quiet but this has mainly because they have been strengthening their 4G LTE network to achieve fast and dense connections over 85% of the nation.

The big reveal last week showed off their Voice over LTE but at the buka puasa they also maintained that they are the only Malaysia 4G LTE provider to fully maximize their spectrum. With their mobile plans set for a launch on 30 June 2016, they felt that the timing for the release is just right as the amount of 4G LTE capable devices and users has increased enough for a compelling price tag with their upcoming mobile plans.

At Yes, we are about helping to close Malaysia's digital divide so it was only right for us to launch the network everywhere, all at once. We feel that doing it in phases would only serve to deepen this gap and that was why we were not going to extend this divide. Also in addition to that, nationwide coverage is required to make VoLTE a reality across our 4G network and we're proud to be the first Malaysian Telco to do it! Some other telcos are still relying on circuit switch fallback on 2G and 3G but we wanted to make sure our customers have 4G everywhere. Mr. Wing K. Lee, CEO, YTL Communications Sdn Bhd

Having had the chance to test these upcoming mobile plans first hand with the Samsung Galaxy J1 2016, all we can say is that it is impressive. However, their existing WiMAX users will not be forgotten with 30 mHz of their 80 mHz spectrum allotment reserved for these users. With 4300 base stations built over the last 5 years, they are looking to build more sites soon, hopefully expanding their network unequivocally into East Malaysia within the next 5 to 6 months.
