Xiaomi has just announced a new product in the market called the Mi Air Purifier. The device does exactly what it's name suggestsin that it sucks in polluted air to give out lung friendly air. It is extremely small but powerful enough to purify all of your air in the house. The Mi Air Purifier features two fans and four air ducts which can filter out 10000 liters of clean air per minute. Its inbuilt filter can remove 99.99% PM2.5 particles from the air. The PM2.5 particles are those which are below 2.5 micrometers in size. This category of particles contains things like soot, dust, smoke and even liquids which are not easy to filter out and can damage your lungs. So this air purifier can come in handy for people who live in areas where air is polluted like Beijing and other parts of the world. You can control a number of aspects of the device as well as get alerts via your smartphone. It also displays the current air quality level. The Mi Air Purifier is currently available for pre-order in China for 899 RMB which comes to around RM505. As of now, Xiaomi has no plans to release it outside of China but eventually it could arive here with Xiaomi Malaysia.

While large tablets are slowly gaining popularity, Toshiba has taken things to an entirely new level with it's Toshiba TT301, a 24 inch tablet aimed at business users. This massive device, called the 'Shared Tablet' can also double as a screen for a television or desktop computer. For this purpose, the company has incorporated features like HDMI and Miracast. To give you a perspective about its size, the TT301 is two times larger than the Surface Pro 3 and more than 3 times larger than the Nexus 7. Asides from the massive screen, other tech specs are rather disappointing as there is only a 1GHz dual-core processor with 1.5GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. The 24-inch display features a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and is aimed at showcasing a presentation, especially with the built-in stand and a hook to hang it up on the wall. However, it weighs more than 3.9kgso it isn't that portable. It supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, an IR blaster and 2W integrated speakers. The tablet runs on Android 4.2.1 Jellybean with special functions like multi-window support. No Malaysia release dates or pricing yet but Toshiba will first release the device in Japan and perhaps will go international later on.

TAG Heuer is rumoured to be releasing it's first smartwatch at CES 2015 to be held in Las Vegas. After a series of rumors that cropped up this fall, the company admitted that it was working on its own smartwatch back in September. However, at that time, company CEO Jean-Claude Biver said that the watch would only be unveiled at the 2015 Baselworld international watch show. But from the latest rumors it looks like the company may have shifted the unveiling to January next year. The source adds that there is a slight chance that the launch may happen a few weeks later, but it would still be before end of March 2015. The source further said that the watch would run on an Intel chipset. This isn't surprising given that the famous chip company has been investing a lot of money in wearables and the Internet of Things (IoT) in the past two years. The watch is said to feature a sleek design in line with current TAG Heuer offerings, and may come with functions like a steps calculator, calorie count and a few notifications options.

In the past few months, many small manufacturers have managed to create a stir in the market by announcing affordable smartphones with high-end specs. Another such startup company, called Xodium is all set to release a smartphone with the latest Snapdragon 805 processor for less than $350 (RM1220). Unfortunately, there are very little details about the new company except for a website from where you can pre-order the device. As for the tech specs, the Xodium comes with a 2.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB/64GB internal storage with MicroSD card support. Featuring a 5.5-inch quad HD display up front, the company may have taken some inspiration from the recently unveiled Meizu MX4 Pro. As for the camera, you get a 16MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus and OIS along with a 5MP front camera sensor. It runs on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS and comes with a 3200mAh battery inside. You get all these for an incredible price of $329 (RM1143) for the 32GB version and $379 (RM1317) for the 64GB version. According to the website, the Xodium requires no invites or contests and will ship to any country in the world. This could well be vapourware though, so we recommend taking a wait and see approach just to be safe.
