Transcend Information Inc. (Transcend) has finally brought the 1 Terabyte M.2 Solid State Drive (MTS800) into Malaysia, it features high-quality MLC NAND flash to maintain its excellent stability, and is exclusively built with protective technologies, such as Global Wear-levelling, Advanced Garbage Collection, and Device Sleep mode for ultra-thin computing devices, such as Ultrabook, tablet computers and laptops. There is only about two weeks left before the official release of Honor V8, which is rumoured to happen on 10 May 2016. Just like the Huawei P9, the V8 may also feature a two-lens camera, but without the co-engineered with LEICA part. Nevertheless, according to some new reports online, the Honor V8 will be using a device codename "Knight", and it is expected to house a 5.5-inch FHD display, a Kirin 950 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 8MP front camera, a USB Type-C port and 3000mAh battery. Furthermore, the Honor V8 is assumed to be priced around 2000 Yuan which is about RM1202.

Samsung may be releasing their next generation Galaxy Note series the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 sometime in August 2016 (as they did so for the previous versions as well). Reports suggest that Samsung created two prototypes of the Galaxy Note 6 during the testing phase and will select only one of them for the official release. One of the prototypes features a double-curved screen, while the other prototype houses a flat display. Tech specs for both of the devices are identical though.

Previously we had shown you a rendered image of Xiaomi Max (apparently it should be called the Mi Max), which seems to be bigger than the Mi 5. Xiaomi has since released a teaser image of the Mi Max in a jeans pocket, despite the 6.4-inch display it has. The front part is also missing the usual Mi logo and it does not seem to have thin bezels, which could mean that the Mi Max might not be a high-end device but more of a mid-range device. 

From a recent import listing on Zauba in India, a device that might be the 3rd generation of Moto E is currently under testing, and it will be carrying the codename "Affinity." The documents also suggest that the next generation of Moto E might feature a 5-inch display. Furthermore, on that very paper too, the device is priced at $78 (RM305) per unit. Although this seems clear that it will not be the retail price of the device.

Soon it might be possible for Waze users here in Malaysia to alert the local municipal councils in regards to potholes, by reporting it through the Waze app. The Selangor state government wants to further strengthen their initiatives to create smart solutions in Selangor, and currently, they are are in talks with the Waze developer to see whether this can be made possible.

This week, Malaysia's telcos continued to battle it out. Celcom officially announced their FIRST Platinum plan with a number of extras like their first Home Broadband offering. Maxis also went official with their updated MaxisONE plans and shared Data Pool. Not much news from the other telcos except perhaps U Mobile offering free mobile Internet for Waze users and Digi's postpaid plan for students. Tune Talk also did their Indonesian-centric Bisa Pak, signalling perhaps more "innovative features" from other telcos coming soon.

The affordable Lenovo ZUK series started with the Lenovo ZUK 1 and looks to expand with the upcoming Lenovo ZUK Z2 Pro. This time around, tech specs are notably higher-end with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 5.2-inch FHD display and 3100 mAh battery. Other features include a fingerprint sensor, 3D glass body with unibody metal frame, 13MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, 128GB storage, USB3.1 Type-C port, 4G LTE and Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The cost? 2700 CNY (RM1623). No Malaysia release dates yet, but we expect it to arrive from third-party sellers just like the original ZUK Z1.

Apart from announcing new laptops, Acer also announced their latest mid-range smartphone called the Acer Liquid Zest Plus. The big draw to this device is the inclusion of a 5000mAh battery inside. Yes, this is the phone to choose for a whole day outing with your friends.

In recent times, Maxis have been under heavy fire but today's official launch sees a new MaxisONE plan update geared towards regaining user trust and adding a bit more value to the networks offerings. While the initial upgrades remain the same SurfMore 50 and MaxisONE Business customers also got permanent upgrades to their data. Other benefits include unlimited calls and SMS to all networks. However, the star of the show today was the shared DataPool which lets you add-on a line and 5GB of Data for just RM48 a month.
