As the date for the Samsung Galaxy S5 unveiling approaches more leaks appear, this time some of them coming from Samsung itself. The first set of tech specs covers the rear or main camera of the Galaxy S5, which has been confirmed to be a 16MP sensor both from the Exif data of a leaked photo taken using the camera along with a report from Samsung about their new LED flash. Apparently, Samsung are working on a new reflector-integrated LED flash for their cameraphones which will deliver better light coverage of over 165 lux at 1A. They went on further to say that it would be used for their newest smartphones which includes the Galaxy S5. Another set of semi-confirmed tech specs comes from Bloomberg who say the screen on the Galaxy S5 will be much sharper, hinting at a possible 2K display of 1440 x 2560 pixels on a 5.2-inch screen. While the Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to unveiled at an Unpacked event before the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, we expect the smartphone to be available by or after next month. No exact Malaysia release dates or pricing but we'll keep you posted.

While the Google Glass and other smartglasses offer a good amount of functionality but certainly look rather geeky. Going the way of the fashion conscious tech head the Icis smart glasses are still at prototype stage and are being built by a company called Laforge (yes, from Star Trek: The Next Generation). The Icis smartglasses will look like normal glasses but offer functions similar to other Bluetooth companion wearables for Android, iOS and Windows Phone devices. Tech specs so far include a 1GHz Sitara processor, 512MB RAM and a Linux based operating system, although the final product could have 1GB of RAM, 720p video recording and other features. The team are looking to get $80000 (RM264280) by next month with an Icis BOLD kit costing $620 (RM2048) to be delivered in January 2015. There are other options which you can check at the Icis Indiegogo Crowd-funding site. Check out the video in this article for a better idea of the Icis smartglasses.

We've been through the Samsung Galaxy S5 rumour mill for some time now, and the rumour about a possible fingerprint scanner has been both certified and debunked quite a lot of times. This time around the rumour is that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will have a fingerprint scanner but rather than have it embedded in the screen, it will be embedded in the home button. Considering how rectangular the home button is for most Samsung Galaxy smartphones this seems a bit off, but according to the source, who happens to be SamMobile, the fingerprint scanner will be the swipe kind. While SamMobile are usually quite accurate about such things do take this with a pinch of salt. According to the rumour, Samsung will integrate usage of the scanner into unlocking the smartphone or accessing private folders and media along with verifying your account while getting rid of onscreen buttons. With no other news except that we'll find out about whether this is true soon enough at the next Unpacked event.

The Sony Xperia Z tablet successor or Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet images recently got leaked with both black and white colour variations. Coming courtesy of serial leaker @evleaks and a newer source called @gadgetleaks, the images show tablet that looks nearly identical with the earlier version. While @evleaks is often correct about most of the stuff leaked there, @gadgetleaks is relatively new but the images from that source also match with the @evleaks image. Be that as it may, do take this with a grain of salt nonetheless.

The BlackBerry Jakarta is rumoured to be the next touchscreen smartphone from BlackBerry after the BlackBerry Z30 and Z10. So far, the Jakarta is just the codename with it possibly being called the BlackBerry Z3 when it gets announced. So far, the design looks very similar to that of the LG Vu but tech specs include a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1.5GB RAM, 8GB of storage, a 5MP rear camer, 1.1MP front camera, 2650 mAh battery and a 5-inch display with 960 x 540 pixel resolution. As usual, the tech specs aren't very impressive, prompting many to consider that the Jakarta or Z3 could be an entry-level device around RM500. This seems unlikely though as BlackBerry devices have not dipped past RM1K even for the supposedly affordable BlackBerry Q5. The BlackBerry Z3 is expected to come with the BlackBerry 10.2.1 update which will allow users to install Android apps through APK files.

Another day, another concept render, but this time the concept render is not for an upcoming smartphone but for smartphone Google could build in the future. Coming from Giuseppe Avanzato and Enrico Vicari, the design is for a Google Nexus smartphone which they have called the Google Nexus P3. While the smartphone concept render looks fairly similar to other Nexus smartphones from the front bezel, the backside slides out to reveal a drawer like slot which you can then use to slot in a number of different modules. These modules include a QWERTY keyboard, a gamepad and a larger 4700 mAh battery. So far, it doesn't seem like Google would do this considering that they've already started on Project Ara but it is still a very interesting concept render. Other tech specs for the Nexus P3 include a 5-inch display, dual speakers, a 12MP rear camera and 2MP front camera. Check out the concept for yourself below or go to the designers site.
