The Huawei Honor 6 Plus was recently launched alongside the Honor 4C at the recent Honor Malaysia 1st Anniversary Celebrations and introduced a number of interesting features which included a Kirin 925 processor, dual parallel rear camera with dual LED flash and more. Priced at RM1399, Honor Malaysia were kind enough to drop off the Honor 6 Plus for review here at TechNave.com and we've done a quick unboxing. While the usual suspects of a pair of headphones, a charger and microUSB cable were revealed the unboxing also showed that Honor Malaysia have also packed along dual screen protectors for the front and back. Now if only all of us had the skills to put it on with no bubbles. We're certainly thankful for the extra value Honor Malaysia have added to the Honor 6 Plus package but we'll probably look up some more skilled help for the screen protector application. The hands-on and review are coming soon so stay tuned for those but for now you can check out our unboxing video in this article.

In conjunction with their first Anniversary Celebrations, Honor Malaysia will be launching their new dual-camera Honor 6 Plus and Honor 4C smartphones for Malaysia on 28 April 2015. While you can still register up until 6pm today for the Anniversary Celebration, only 30 lucky winners will be selected but there are guaranteed door gifts. The new Honor 6 Plus on the other hand offers a unique 13MP dual rear camera setup, 5.5-inch display and 1.8GHz octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 925 processor. Other tech specs include 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, 8MP front camera, 4G LTE connectivity, an IR blaster and a metal frame design much like the Honor 6. The Honor 4C on the other hand is likely to place in between the Honor 3C Lite and the Honor 4X. Featuring a similar tough polycarbonate backside the Honor 4C shrinks the screen down to a 5-inch display but retains a HD 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. It will likely still pack in a 64-bit 1.2GHz octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 620 processor with 2GB RAM and 8GB storage along with a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. The smaller screen will also mean a slightly smaller battery at 2550 mAh. Stay tuned and we may have some hands-on with the new devices just next week.

Thanks to an anonymous tipster, it appears that apart from the Honor 4X, Malaysia could also soon see the Honor 6 Plus smartphone as well. Recently spotted in Malaysia, the smartphone features a unique dual-camera setup that allows you to change apertures and focus points for some neat refocusing or bokeh effects. In addition, the back cover and metal frame offer a solid enough body that is nearly bulletproof (check out the video below). Other tech specs include an octa-core Kirin 925 processor, 5.5-inch full HD display, 4G LTE, NFC, an infrared port and more. Our anonymous tipster couldn't provide any specific Malaysia release dates or pricing but indicated that we could see the Honor 6 Plus as soon as the end of March 2015 or early April 2015. Considering that it is currently priced for about $320 (RM1171) we could see it be priced below RM1300, perhaps from RM1099 to RM1199 or so.

The Huawei Honor 6 Plus made the headlines a few days back with its variable aperture dual rear camera setup. We have already added a few samples from the phone in our previous article and today, we have some more camera samples which are compared with Apple iPhone 6 camera samples. Variable aperture is made possible with the help of the advanced algorithms inside the Honor 6 Plus. Using the feed from both the 8MP rear cameras, the phone lets the user control aperture ranges from f/0.96 to f/16. In the camera menu, there is a slider which changes these aperture levels, even after the image has been captured. The two 8MP symmetrical cameras at the back along with the powerful 3IE algorithm make this all possible. The primary 8MP camera in the setup features auto-focus with f/2.0 aperture and the secondary 8MP has a fixed focus with f/2.4. The primary camera focuses on nearby objects and the secondary fixed-focus camera captures a flat image. With a combination of the two sensors, the Honor 6 Plus offers features such as variable aperture, depth of field and faster HDR. This also helps in better low light performance, which you'll clearly see in the pictures given below.

Huawei announced the Huawei Honor 6 Plus smartphone with a dual rear camera setup on 16 December 2014. This is the world's first variable aperture smartphone without any add-on lenses and works quite differently from the HTC One M8 which also features a duo-camera. For the Honor 6 Plus there are two symmetrical 8MP camera sensors at the back which work together with a dedicated SLR-grade image signal processor (ISP) to achieve this. This unique setup also allows the phone to capture images in resolutions of up to 13MP. Huawei claims that the two 8MP cameras at the back works just like the human eye. The two lenses can focus on an object in just 0.1 seconds. The advanced 3IE algorithm in the device allows users to achieve a range of depths, from F0.95 to F16. Images captured especially at night benefit from the given two cameras. This is because, the amount of light reaching the lens and the sensors is twice than that of a single sensor, which contributes to better low light images. Huawei has released a number of samples taken from these dual rear cameras and they look very good, especially those taken in low light. We have added a few samples from the device down below. The company has not yet revealed details like Malaysia release dates or pricing for the Honor 6 Plus but the existing Honor 6 retails for around RM999 in Malaysia.

The rumoured Huawei Honor 6 Plus was officially announced recently and like it's name suggests, it is a larger phablet than the 5-inch display Huawei Honor 6. Overall design remains the same with rounded metal sides, a wave pattern on the back and rounded corners but with a slightly larger 5.5-inch display, the Honor 6 Plus is definitely the bigger brother of the two. The most notable feature remains the dual camera sensors in the back which can offer 13MP shots with depth of field effects (focus after the picture is taken), faster 0.1 second auto focus and reportedly better low-light performance. Other tech specs include a 1.8GHz octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 925 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, 8MP front camera and 3600 mAh battery. The microSD slot not only supports up to 128GB of external storage, but it can also act as an extra SIM slot like in the premium version of the Huawei Ascend Mate 7. Like before, an IR blaster on the top lets you turn the smartphone into a universal remote control for your air conditioner or HDTV. The Honor 6 Plus also supports 4G LTE connectivity but the 3G version will be priced at 1999CNY (RM1130) while the 4G LTE version will go for 2499CNY (RM1412). No exact Malaysia release dates just yet but we expect Huawei Malaysia to come out with it's release soon.
