Thinking about getting the ASUS Fonepad 8 FE380CG? Well, so are we and it certainly looks good with it's larger 8-inch display with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. In a brief media gathering recently, ASUS Malaysia launched new additions to their tablet line-up with the 64-bit ASUS Fonepad 8 FE380CG and 64-bit ASUS MeMo Pad 8 ME581CL. Both offer much slimmer bezels than before with an 8-inch display but the MeMo Pad 8 ME581CL is clearly the more premium of the two tablets. Despite that, the Fonepad 8 FE380CG packs in a number of notable features which include very loud, crisp and clear dual front speakers, dual-SIM capability and 3G connectivity to go with it's 64-bit 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z3530 processor. The MeMo Pad 8 is both thinner and lighter at 7.45mm thin and 299g featuring an 8-inch IPS display with full HD 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. This tablet also comes with 2GB RAM, 4G LTE Cat4, 802.11ac WiFi and NFC to go with it. It also has an AnyPen feature which lets you use a pencil or metal tip pen as a stylus. Just announced yesterday, the ASUS Fonepad 8 FE380CG and MeMo Pad 8 ME581CL tablets offer 64-bit processing power and some really nifty features at affordable pricing. Going for just RM1099 for the MeMo Pad 8 ME581CL and RM649 for the Fonepad 8 FE380CG, we managed to some hands-on time with the two tablets so do check them out in the photos below. ASUS Malaysia has just sent out a teaser image for an upcoming Fonepad phablet, this time saying that it will be "slimmer yet larger". Based on the previously released ASUS Malaysia tablet roadmap, we're guessing that this tablet with phone capabilities would probably be the ASUS Fonepad 8 (FE380CG) as it would explain a larger screen but the slimmer 5.06mm bezel. Tech specs for the Fonepad 8 include a 64-bit 1.83GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3560 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB / 16GB of storage and an 8-inch display with 800 x 1280 pixel resolution. Other tech specs and features include support for 3G, Dual-SIM, Bluetooth, GPS, a 5MP rear camera, 2MP front camera and Android 4.4.2 KitKat. ASUS Malaysia recently held a media briefing revealing their tablet plans for Q4 of 2014 and beyond. As recently leaked at TechNave.com, ASUS Malaysia confirmed that we'll be seeing 64-bit Intel processor powered tablets here in Malaysia in the near future. This includes the ASUS Transformer Pad (TF103), ASUS MeMo Pad 8 (ME181), ASUS FonePad 7 (FE375CG), ASUS FonePad 7 (FE170CG) and ASUS FonePad 8 (FE380CG). While all of these tablets will be sporting smaller bezels and a slimmer form factor and are headed for the affordable below RM1K price range, there will be higher-end tablets as well. This includes the ASUS MeMo Pad 8 (ME581) tablet which will have tech specs that include an 8-inch full HD display and 4G LTE connectivity. Check out the details in the slides in this article.

While we covered the recent 64-bit ASUS MeMo Pad in Japan, ASUS have officially announced 3 new tablets powered by the new 64-bit Intel processors. These include the ASUS Fonepad 8 (FE380CG), ASUS MeMo Pad 7 (ME176C) and the aforementioned ASUS MeMo Pad 8 (ME581CL). Featuring a thinner design with slimmer bezels, the tablets not only mark the first of Intel's 64-bit mobile processors but also one of the first devices to have Intel's LTE modem.
