5000 mAh battery ASUS ZenFone Max promo video a sign that it is coming to Malaysia soon?

The ASUS ZenFone Max was also announced with the the ZenFone 2 Laser but had several major differences. This includes a first generation ZenFone design with the buttons on the side and a metal frame. However, its biggest tech spec or feature is probably its massive 5000 mAh battery (the same as a large tablet) while packing in a 13MP rear camera with laser autofocus and dual tone LED flash. It also looks like it will have an artificial leather back as indicated in a recently released promo video (which you can see below).

The power sipping Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor no doubt helps increase battery life exponentially so if you're looking for a premium yet affordable ASUS ZenFone, then this could be the one to wait for. No specific Malaysia release dates or pricing details yet but it could be a sign that the ZenFone Max is coming to Malaysia soon. This is in line with earlier reports that we would be seeing the ASUS ZenFone Max and ZenFone Zoom in December 2015. Some tips from friends in the industry say it could be coming as soon as next week, so stay tuned for more details.

ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser review - Affordable 13MP Cameraphone with excellent battery life

Not too long ago, cameraphones were rather expensive devices that provided excellent camera performance and features while being a smartphone at the same time. They usually had larger than average or phablet-sized displays which when coupled with their more powerful cameras usually resulted in having rather poor battery life. However, times are changing and we now have smartphones like the ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser ZE550KL which not only offers a 13MP PixelMaster camera and laser autofocus but also a 5.5-inch display for just RM799. Is it the affordable energy efficient cameraphone phablet for Malaysia's masses? We find out in our review of the ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser ZE550KL below.

The 5.5-inch display looks to have a 720p resolution but still has a protective layer of the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Tech specs and features include a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 4G LTE Dual SIM Dual Standby. It should be available in the coming weeks but our hands-on with the device shows a smartphone very much like the ASUS ZenFone 2 with the only major physical difference being the laser sensor on the right side of the rear camera. This value cameraphone is expected in the coming weeks along with the rest of the newly announced ASUS ZenFones
