While MCMC have officially stated that the free 1GB Internet data provided by Celcom, Digi, Maxis and U Mobile will only be available in between 8AM - 6PM, many users thought that time limit is a bit of a letdown. Moreover, this applies to both postpaid and prepaid customers but not to Yoodo. Thanks to one of our readers, it has come to our attention that Yoodo users can use their free 1GB Internet data any time and anywhere.

Just last Wednesday, our Prime Minister Muhyiddin officially extended the Movement Control Order (MCO) for everyone's benefit in hopes to minimize the COVID-19 spread. During his second live telecast last Friday, he also mentioned that Malaysians will be receiving their 1GB free Internet data starting from 1 April, but didn't say how. Thankfully, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) released an official statement about this a few hours ago so here's the full breakdown.

Digi has officially announced that they’re giving away 1GB of free internet data, which is usable from 8AM to 6PM when you claim it from the MyDigi app. Furthermore, all Digi prepaid customers who reload RM10 and above will be eligible for up to 1GB of free internet data as up to 15 minutes of free calls.

Today, our local telcos - Celcom, Digi and Maxis - have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This initiative is for the three companies to explore leveraging each other’s resources to deploy a wider, more efficient fibre network for Malaysia. This will enable improved 4G connectivity nationwide, in line with the government’s NFCP target.
