After selling HONOR, it is reported that HUAWEI could be up to selling its premium flagship P and Mate series as well. Due to the US trade ban, the company has been pressured in the smartphone business by facing "a persistent unavailability of technical elements". Therefore, can it be real that the company has come to a point that it needs to sell two of its prestigious smartphone series?

After Huawei sold off HONOR, the public has started to question whether HONOR will regain access to Google Mobile Services (GMS). Now, it looks like that the answer has been revealed with a reputable Russian newspaper reported that the smartphone company is working on a new line that runs the GMS.

In the last remaining days of Trump administration in the office, the group decided to revoke certain licenses on Huawei suppliers such as Intel. Although nothing has been confirmed yet, they are certainly trying to reject other applications as well in order to halt the supply, according to Reuters.

Today, BlackBerry CFO Steve Rai has officially confirmed to the Canadian media that the company has indeed sold many of their smartphone IP to Huawei. In fact, Huawei has gotten their hands on 90 pieces of intellectual properties and it happened on 12 January 2021.

It seems that a patent regarding Huawei device that’s equipped with an in-display selfie camera may have been spotted, giving us a better idea on what to expect when it is officially available in the global market. Based on the patent, it seems that the smartphone in question will also come equipped with a quad-camera setup at the rear and no buttons towards the left side of the device.

After the trade ban being imposed on HUAWEI, some other Chinese smartphone manufacturers might also worry that they will face the same challenge. We can't deny that HUAWEI took some time to build the HarmonyOS to serve as the alternative to Google's OS. Therefore, if it happened to the others, they will also need some time to develop an in-house OS. Recently, the CEO of HUAWEI Consumer Business Group Richard Yu said that HarmonyOS will be made available for other smartphone manufacturers.

In 2020, the smartphone industry had achieved some remarkable breakthroughs and one of them is allowing chargers to go up to 100W or even surpass it. Now we're in 2021, the companies will only aim higher by increasing the number. It is reported that a HUAWEI charger that supports 135W fast charging has been certified by China's 3C Agency.

Companies tend to hold back smartphone reveals for MWC, with CES 2021 being the preferred stage for a wider range of other electronics. So for Huawei, the P50 series and Kirin 9010 chipset that's being rumoured won't be around soon. Instead, we might be seeing two new MateBook laptops.

Following Apple's App Store purge, HUAWEI has also removed some games from their app store today. However, the Chinese tech giant is only removing the games that are developed by Tencent specifically rather than thousands of them.
