After Apple confirmed that it will comply with the EU’s USB-C regulations, we may be seeing the port being standard across next year’s iPhone 15 series, instead of the Lightning port. However, it looks like not all of the upcoming iPhone’s USB-C ports would be equal, as Apple is likely to put higher-speed data transfer on the iPhone 15 Pro series.

The fight between the European Union and Apple on standardising the charging port as USB-C port has come to an end. According to the latest report, the law passes with 602 votes in favour, 13 against and 8 abstentions. It means that Apple would have to switch from the Lightning port to the USB-C port by 2024.

Fans of Apple’s true wireless stereo earbuds have been waiting for the tech giant to update its AirPods Pro for some time now, with a rumoured refresh never came to be over the past two years. If you haven't heard, the European Union (EU) is in an agreement that all compact gadgets should use a USB-C port. While the agreement is not fully in motion yet, that may force Apple to switch the iPhone and iPad devices from the trademark lightning port to USB-C in the future.

Two days ago, the European Union (EU) have an agreement that all compact electronic devices must use a USB Type-C charger by fall 2024. In other words, Apple must follow suit with its iPhone 16 when it hits the market in two years but it seems the UK government is not "currently considering" following EU's footsteps.

The European Commission has won the fight against smartphone manufacturers using cables none other than the USB-C. By fall 2024, all mobile phones, tablets and cameras sold in the EU must only use USB-C cable for all sorts of purposes. As most Android smartphone makers have switched over to the mentioned standard, it left Apple.

Apple not using the USB-C port has been an issue for the European Committee. Recently, the law that forces every smartphone manufacturer to adopt USB-C ports for devices sold in the region has gained overwhelming support. Therefore, it might be one of the reasons for this new report to appear, saying Apple will eventually ditch the Lightning port for iPhone 15 in 2023.

Apple has been forced (many times) by the European Commission to switch its Lightning port to a USB-C port. Not only that, but it seems like the fans are also eagerly waiting for that to happen, as an iPhone X modified with a USB-C port sold over ~RM416K earlier. Until now, a source claims that the tech giant might do that with next year's iPhone 14 Pro lineup.

If there is one thing that Android fans don't about Apple iPhones, it is that the devices don't come with a USB-C port for years. However, that could change as the European Commission has just submitted a revised Radio Equipment Directive. This means that it will make a new standard port for all smartphones, tablets, cameras, headphones, portable speakers and even handheld gaming consoles.
