As the National Day approaches, a few brands have already started advertising their Merdeka Day sales. This includes Maxis with its Maxis Sale and there are several promotions in the Zerolution section. Among the promos, the most intriguing one is none other than the PlayStation 5 (PS5) Digital Edition in there.

  • Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz today revealed that foreign telecommunication companies are ‘queuing up’ for access to Malaysia’s 5G single wholesale network under his ministry’s Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB). Maxis and U Mobile reportedly to miss out on DNB's 5G network if they don't comply

We are almost in the middle of August and there's still no official news from any telcos that they have signed on Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB)'s 5G single wholesale network. Initially, our Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said they have agreed but it seems that Maxis and U Mobile may miss out.

Apple Pay is increasingly appearing a lot more lately. Just last week, users spotted the feature promotion coming soon on Shopee and Maxis, then now it was on Ambank's website. Initially, Ambank did tease Apple Pay a few weeks ago via SMS but now, the web portal that was up had already been taken down.

Maxis may be accepting payments via Apple Pay soon

Yesterday, we reported that Shopee may be adding the option for consumers in Malaysia to make purchases via Apple Pay and now, it looks like the payment method is coming to other merchants too. Now, it looks like our country can finally move forward and have 5G connectivity accessible to the masses as the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (K-KOMM) said that the 5G service will rollout by September 2022 at the latest.

We were pretty sceptical of whether the remaining telcos (particularly CelcomDigiMaxis and U Mobile) would join and agree to Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB)'s stake today. As you should know, today (30th of June) is the last day of the offer and it seems that they have agreed to it.

UPDATE: We have received a statement from Maxis that the line is restored. In their statement, they said "We would like to update our customers who were experiencing network disruptions earlier, that services are being restored gradually, and expect full restoration soon. We would like to once again thank our customers for their understanding and patience."

  • Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz has revealed that the government is willing to consider fiscal incentives to assist local telco companies in transitioning to 5G. These incentives are meant to mitigate any short-term commercial consequences of providing 5G services to their customers.

  • Celcom Axiata Bhd will do its best to meet the deadline with Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) on the 5G network service agreement in Malaysia. Previously, we reported that K-KOMM has given telco companies until 30 June 2022 to finalise the agreement with DNB.
