As we enter the newly announced Condition Movement Control Order (CMCO) period, it is essential that all Malaysians must already know about the Gerak Malaysia app. Since we are still partially under lockdown, Malaysians must make use of the app in order to move across the state. In line with this, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) have released the latest FAQs for everyone.

Back in March, we reported that the Malaysia Armed Forces planned to use flying drones to assist in patrolling the streets during this MCO period. Looks like they really mean it and starting today, the drones will be deployed as aerial surveillance to monitor the naughty boys and girls who disobey the law.

Ever since the beginning of the movement control order (MCO), Malaysians have been traveled back to their hometown to be with their families. Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced for those who are still at their hometowns that want to travel back to urban areas can start registering online and wait for approvals.

The Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission(MCMC) is now testing a beta app called Gerak Malaysia that can identify every person that may have contacted with an Covid-19 Infectee by using location tracking. This will aid the Ministry of Health (MOH) in contact tracing.

While fake news is not something new, but it has apparently become a national problem when the World Health Organization (WHO) have to step in. In fact, WHO even describe "fake news about COVID-19 is as dangerous as the virus itself".

In this short announcement, somebody has apparently been forwarding fake news about people being fined for stepping outside of their houses. While MCMC have officially stated that the free 1GB Internet data provided by Celcom, Digi, Maxis and U Mobile will only be available in between 8AM - 6PM, many users thought that time limit is a bit of a letdown. Moreover, this applies to both postpaid and prepaid customers but not to Yoodo. Thanks to one of our readers, it has come to our attention that Yoodo users can use their free 1GB Internet data any time and anywhere.

Recently, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) released an official statement which states that one of the staff has contracted the COVID-19. Fortunately, MCMC recommended the staff to quarantine herself for 14 days starting from 4 March 2020, which reduced the potential of the virus spreading.
