In 2019, Nintendo released two new Switch models with improvements that prevented hackers from using homebrew software but all that work has been undone again. TeamXecutor was able to hack the Nvidia Tegra X214 chipset used in the revised Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite with the help of a modchip.

The guys over at XDA-Developers.com has managed to get Google’s Android operating system running on a Nintendo Switch. Using a bunch of software such as the Linux 5 Tegra Ubuntu developed by ByLaws, as well as the emuMMC for the Switch. The handheld console was able to boot into the Android Operating system directly off an SD card, without the need to perform any sort of installation.

Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft better watch out as there may be a new contender in the console field. Slightly Mad Studios, the company behind the games Project CARS 2 and Need for Speed: Shift, is currently working on a new console named “Mad Box” and it is expected to be out in 3.5 years’ time.
