5G is hitting Malaysia hard and we have proof for why we said that. Earlier, demonstration projects of 5G have happened in Langkawi, where they were able to use the technology to diagnose patients remotely and increase security at the Langkawi Port. Other than that, there were also different 5G smartphones being brought into Malaysia by different brands. Therefore, we think that OPPO Malaysia is trying to seize the opportunity to promote 5G as well by getting their first 5G device to be certified by SIRIM. 

This morning, Celcom showed off the capabilities of the 5G network in their 5G live cluster field trial which was deployed not too long ago. During the demonstration, their network managed to hit speeds of up to 6Gbps with latency around hovering around the 10 milliseconds. Celcom also demonstrated different use cases that could benefit from the new 5G network such as security surveillance over 5G, and 5G home entertainment such as 4k game and movie streaming. The new network also supports 5G-to-5G VoLTE calls, as well as 5G-to-4G VoLTE high fidelity calls.

OPPO Reno was recently launched globally in 3 variants: The OPPO Reno, OPPO Reno 10x zoom and OPPO Reno 5G. The smartphone series is expected to hit Malaysian shores soon.
