Samsung is well known for making several different model phones to cater for different markets. There's the high-end Samsung Galaxy S series, the productivity Samsung Galaxy Note series, and then there is the Samsung Galaxy J series - the current entry-level to mid-range smartphones from Samsung. The one we have here right now is the Samsung Galaxy J5 – the middle child (at least for now) of the J series in Malaysia. We have already reviewed the Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 alongside the Samsung Galaxy J1 2016, and now the Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 is next on the list. Let’s see how the phone fares in our review below. 

Thanks to Samsung Mobile Malaysia we managed to get some hands-on time with the new Galaxy J1 2016, Galaxy J5 2016 and Galaxy J7 2016. Priced respectively at RM449, RM849 and RM1049, the new Galaxy J 2016 series was launched yesterday and will be available today alongside the already available Galaxy J3 2016 which is priced at RM649.

Samsung Malaysia Electronics have just announced their new Samsung Galaxy J 2016 series with the Galaxy J1 2016, Galaxy J5 2016 and Galaxy J7 2016. The Galaxy J3 2016 priced at RM649 is already available but the Galaxy J1 2016, Galaxy J5 2016 and Galaxy J7 2016 will be available in Malaysia tomorrow at RM449, RM849 and RM1049 respectively, with only these three coming with a free YES 4G LTE prepaid SIM card with 2 months of 30GB of data. This offer is also only available while stocks last, so if you're in for freebies and value, you know what you have to do tomorrow. 

After the TechNave exclusive pics and tech specs of the Samsung Galaxy J3 2016, Galaxy J5 2016 and Galaxy J7 2016 were revealed, Samsung Malaysia have gone and made it official by sending out invites for the Samsung Galaxy J 2016 series launch in Malaysia. The launch is set to happen on 15 June 2016, confirming earlier reports of the event.

So one of the new Samsung Galaxy J series 2016, the Galaxy J3 2016 is already available in Malaysia, whereas the other two, the Galaxy J5 2016 and Galaxy J7 2016 might be coming soon this or next week with an official announcement. While we wait patiently for the new trio, we took some time to do some comparison between the three just like how we did with the Galaxy A 2016 series back then. What is interesting about the tables is that they clearly state that the J3 2016 will have a plastic body while the J5 2016 and J7 2016 will have a metal body.

Recently, we received an exclusive report that the latest Samsung Galaxy J3 2016 is now available in Malaysia for RM649. We even have hands-on pics of the device with tech specs of the J3 2016 revealed to include a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB RAM, 8GB storage, a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 8MP rear camera, 5MP front camera and 2600 mAh battery. The pictures certainly look authentic but since this is a rumour, do take it with a pinch of salt.

According to our anonymous source the Galaxy J5 2016 could go for RM849 while the Galaxy J7 2016 could be priced at RM1049. Both the J5 2016 and J7 2016 are expected next week with an official launch or Malaysia release date expected on either 9 June or 15 June 2016. Samsung have officially listed the Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) and Galaxy J5 (2016) in their China site. The new smartphones have brushed metal backsides, NFC and 4G LTE but while the battery size is similar, both have different features. No Malaysia release dates or pricing details but you can see the complete list of tech specs in this article.

About two months ago, both Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016)'s tech specs were leaked on GFXBench and have gone quiet ever since then. This time leaked by TENAA, both devices looks similar and will feature LED flashes on the front camera. 

The Samsung Galaxy J5 was released in Malaysia just last year August and it proved to be quite popular for customers who were looking for a good affordable smartphone. We just got word that a newer Galaxy J5 (2016) version has been tested on GFXBench, and the tech specs looks pretty good.

From the image above, the device is an improvement from its predecessor. The only thing that didn't change is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset + 1.2 GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU, the camera sensor has also dropped to 12MP from 13MP (which is quite surprising).
