If you've thought about getting a unifi fibre broadband plan, now may be the right time if reports are true. Telekom Malaysia would sometimes offer customers new deals for a limited time and they might be doing it again. This news started spreading when a leaked promo poster showed discounted rates for unifi plans, with the 30Mbps plan going for as little as RM39 per month.

While many have begun to return to their office, many are still working from home due to the conditional movement control order (CMCO). Telekom Malaysia wants to take this chance to get more people to sign up to its fibre broadband service, so it has announced another free trial period for those who want to sign up to unifi Home now.

A few days ago, unifi users experienced some slow Internet speed due to the damaged APCN-2 submarine cable system undersea. With this, Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) sent out a team to do some maintenance work on 17th until 21st of April. As per schedule, TM is pleased to announce the maintenance work has been completed.

During this MCO, one of the essentials that we largely rely on is the Internet. Without it, most of us would not know how to survive as that is the thing that we depend on to get communications and works done. Now, it is announced that there will be network degradation for a few days for some users, as one of the submarine cable systems will be under maintenance.

As we journey on the Movement Control Order (MCO), we also have to endure the dropped bandwidth speed from our local Telcos and Internet providers due to the number of people staying at home hogging the servers. To address this, Anand Vijayan, Chief Commercial Officer, Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) has decided to reach out and gave his statement. 

Just last Wednesday, our Prime Minister Muhyiddin officially extended the Movement Control Order (MCO) for everyone's benefit in hopes to minimize the COVID-19 spread. During his second live telecast last Friday, he also mentioned that Malaysians will be receiving their 1GB free Internet data starting from 1 April, but didn't say how. Thankfully, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) released an official statement about this a few hours ago so here's the full breakdown.

In order to help in promoting tourism for Malaysia, TM unifi has announced that it will be collaborating with Tourism Malaysia, Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC), KL Tower, Klook, and Fave. With this partnership, unifi becomes the strategic telco partner for the Visit Malaysia 2020 campaign.

While the tech media are geeking out over CES 2020, unifi silently announced a new package plan called unifi Mobile Travel Pass. As a Strategic Telecommunication Partner for the Visit Malaysia 2020 initiative, this plan is meant for tourists visiting from overseas with unlimited data starting from RM30.

Based on an article titled “Malaysia’s need for speed: How regulatory action is unleashing ultrafast internet” in the World Bank report, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) was commended in their efforts to increase the average broadband speeds in Malaysia. Not only that, but they have also managed to reduce the average price by up to 49% for these services.
