A perk of having a Xiaomi device is that even its oldest phones still receive updates till this day. At least, until now. The Chinese manufacturer made an announcement on their forums stating 7 Redmi devices will cease to receive any form of software support.

Hey Xiaomi fans, MIUI 10 is coming upon us and the company just released a scheduled date for all Mi devices to receive an Over-The-Air (OTA) update soon. Since 29 June 2018, the Mi series such as the Mi 8, Mi 8 SE, Mi Mix 2S, Mi Mix 2, Mi Mix, Mi 6X, Mi 5 and Mi Note have gotten the update. The following update will be for the Redmi series in July this month.

The Xiaomi Redmi 4A was initially announced for Malaysia back in January for RM449 but it only had 16GB storage at the time. However, Mi Malaysia have announced that the Redmi 4A with 32GB storage will go for RM509, a slight increase of RM60 for another 16GB of internal storage. It will be available online on 18 March 2017. Other tech specs like 4G LTE dual SIM and a 3120 mAh battery with up to 7-day battery life are the same though.

We have a new champion of affordable smartphones. The new Xiaomi Redmi 4A is official in Malaysia, and it is now available from Lazada for only RM 449. Yes, it is that cheap! Of course being Xiaomi, it offers more than what you pay for.

This week Huawei dominated the news with their latest and greatest Huawei Mate 9 and Porsche Design Huawei Mate 9 smartphones to go with a Huawei FIT smartwatch as well. Xiaomi managed to slip in their Redmi 4, Redmi 4A and Redmi 4 Prime smartphones while Olympus announced their OMD E-M1 Mark II DSLR will be going on sale in December 2016. The Meizu Pro 6S and Meizu M5 were officially announced while the Samsung w2017 flip phone officially arrived in China.

Xiaomi have officially launched their Xiaomi Redmi 4 in three variants; the more affordable Redmi 4A, the standard Redmi 4 and the higher-end Redmi 4 Prime. Priced at 499 yuan (about RM311) the Redmi 4A features a metal body but lacks a fingerprint sensor and has lower-end tech specs like a quad-core processor for 499 yuan (RM311).
