Another day, another phone from Jaringan Prihatin explodes. A couple of days ago, a 9-year-old student's phone battery caught on fire during an online class and the device is the YES Altitude 3 given by the Malaysian government. Luckily, nothing bad happened to anyone in the accident and the student was rewarded a Redmi Note 10 5G by Xiaomi afterwards as a replacement. Now, yet another device from the program exploded while it was charging.

YES officially announced that they have unveiled 2 YES PRIHATIN plans to help Malaysian Citizens in the B40 category by offering free smartphones and free mobile data for an entire year. The plans, which are called YES PRIHATIN Learn-From-Home Families, as well as the YES PRIHATIN Learn-From-Home Individuals, will also allow the users to access YTL Foundation’s Learn-From-Home content absolutely free of charge for an entire year as well as an RM50 Shopee voucher to purchase essentials via Shopee.

Recently, at least 30000 students from USM received free SIM which was given by the YTL Foundation and it comes with 40GB of data that’s valid for 60 days. This is extremely beneficial for the students due to the fact that the Movement Control Order is still in full effect, and will not be able to physically attend class.

While we're all still working on the eventual roll-out of 5G networks, current US President Donald J. Trump recently tweeted that he wants “... 5G, and even 6G, technology in the United States as soon as possible.” Considering that the US has just charged Huawei, the biggest provider of networking equipment in the world AND the most likely source of future 5G and 6G networks (which doesn't exist yet), for breaking US sanctions on top of banning their smartphones and other equipment from being sold in the US for years... we can't help but do a facepalm. No US networks have actually rolled out any 5G networks (while Penangites just got a taste of it with the recent YTL and Yes Terragraph trial).

Today, YTL Communications in collaboration with Facebook has announced that Malaysia will be the first large-scale market pilot in Asia with the launch Terragraph high-speed broadband in Georgetown, Penang. All access to Terragraph’s network such as Public WiFi as well as Fixed Wireless Access will be free of charge, until the end of the market pilot.
