  • China Shop can upgrade your Apple iPhone/iPad storage to 128GB, coming to Malaysia

China Shop can upgrade your Apple iPhone/iPad storage to 128GB, coming to Malaysia

Yes, you read that right. A shop in China has figured out how to upgrade your Apple iPhone or iPad’s storage up to 128GB of space without causing it to brick on you. How did they do it? Hey, it’s China. They can do anything.

Apple products aren’t easy to modify, as they install a software protection that verifies the hardware in the right configuration. That’s not even the main problem, because you need special tools to work on the hardware and chips and it’s difficult to do so. Not to mention, the iPhone 5s’s motherboard is really tiny to be ejected out safely for the memory chip inside. According to the shop owner, he has very little trouble with iPads and the iPhone 6 is easier to handle but the iPhone 6s is still untested.

Apple iPad Pro + Smart Keyboard + Pencil Stylus and iPad mini 4 officially announced

Apple also officially announced their business-targeted Apple iPad Pro tablet complete with a Microsoft Surface like keyboard and Pencil stylus. The iPad Pro comes with a 12.9-inch display with 2732 x 2048 pixel resolution. Other known tech specs include an Apple A9x processor and four speakers. The Keyboard has a magnetic Smart Connector that provides both power and data but comes separately at $169 (RM711.07). The Apple Pencil stylus also comes separately at $99 (RM416.54) but there is no place for you to slot it in on the tablet. Looking much like a 6.9mm thin iPad Air 2, the iPad Pro offers up to 10 hours battery life and is fully optimized for use with Microsoft Office and Adobe Apps. No Malaysia release dates yet but the iPad Pro is expected to arrive in November (which means Malaysia could see it next year).

The Apple iPad mini 4 was also officially announced with a slimmer 6.1mm thin case (compared to the iPad mini 3 at 7.5mm) with a zero-gap screen and still 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution Retina display. Other tech specs and features will include an Apple A8 processor, 8MP rear camera and 1.2MP front camera while everything else remains the same. Unfortunately, there is no rose gold option for the iPad mini 4 but it will have a preorder starting from 11 September 2015 with shipping on 25 September 2015. No Malaysia pricing details yet but the 16GB storage iPad mini 4 will be priced as below. Like certain Apple iPhones in Malaysia, the pricing of Apple iPads have also been increased and the iPad mini 3 has been removed from the site.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablets announced with 64-bit processor

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A series tablets were recently announced in Russia with two devices in 8-inch and 9.7-inch display sizes. However, the tablets will be powered by a 64-bit 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB storage, up to 128GB microSD, 4200 mAh battery for the smaller version and 6000 mAh for the larger version. Other tech specs include dual speakers, a 5MP and 2MP camera. Unfortunately, no news of any S-Pen support. • Apple iPad Air 2 also bends in bare hands

Apple iPad Air 2 also bends in bare hands

It seems inevitable that other Apple products will get a bend test as well, especially after how easily the Apple iPhone 6 Plus bent due to bare hand force. This time around the 6.1mm thin Apple iPad Air 2 goes through the bend test and rather predictably, breaks. While we're not surprised at such a thin and big device bending or snapping in half, it appears that you do need a good deal of strength to bend it. If you've got pencils for arms then you probably won't have to worry too much about it. In the meantime, do check out the iPad Air 2 bend test video in this article.
