Apple doesn't usually specify the origins of the components in the iPhones. However, for the first time, CEO Tim Cook confirms that the company has partnered with Sony for many years "to create the world's leading camera sensors for iPhone."

Samsung has launched another 200MP camera sensor called ISOCELL HPX. It adopts the company's smallest 0.56μm pixel size and supports 4x lossless zoom. Even if zoomed out four times, it still can output 12MP photos.

If you recall, Samsung first announced its 200MP camera in September. It was soon rumoured that Xiaomi would be the first company to feature the ISOCELL HP1 sensor, but that might not happen after all. Instead, another brand could be the first to use it.

There's still a few months left in 2021, but Samsung is already getting for 2022. Samsung's flagship series for next year will allegedly bring back the 3D ToF, with an Ultra variant that sports a 200MP camera too. Besides that, there's also news of a new 50MP camera.

Samsung will be launching a new camera sensor on 10 June. The Korean tech giant confirmed the news by posting a teaser on its Twitter account with the caption “ISOCELL for everyone. You deserve an awesome camera." Looking at it, the upcoming sensor might be made for lower-cost devices.

It is reported that the global market for camera sensors for smartphones reached 15 billion USD in 2020, an increase of 13% over 2019. Therefore, you can roughly estimate how much Sony is earning in just the camera sensor industry alone from the statistics.

For many people, the smartphone is now their go-to for casual photography. As a result, smartphones with good camera sensors tend to become popular options. Samsung is a key provider in this area and now has a new upgrade with the ISOCELL 2.0 announced yesterday.
