The hype around audio chat rooms has mostly died down. As the app considered the trend starter, Clubhouse has been particularly quiet over the last few months. However, the company now just released a major feature for its users.

Last month, Clubhouse finally dropped its invite-only system, allowing anyone on iOS and Android to join the platform. Now, the company has to come up with ways to keep its users around. And it seems that new audio features are on the cards.

Audio chat rooms are the new thing in 2021, one that was first popularised when Clubhouse rose to prominence. But competitors have appeared in recent months, and Clubhouse must have realised it can no longer be exclusive.

The team behind WhatsApp continues putting effort into the chat platform by developing even more new features. Last month, features such as the "always mute" option and a new storage management tool have been widely rolled out to users. It was also rumoured that "disappearing messages" could soon arrive as well. Now, several new things are spotted again including muting videos before sharing and a new "Read Later" feature.

Originally made for gamers, Discord is now an app that's not just used for chat, but also to build communities. It's not uncommon to see large communities where people constantly share their content, even more so if it's a gaming community. With that in mind, it would seem that Discord is developing a new screen sharing function for the Android app.
