For those familiar with mobile devices, you'll often see the terms 7nm or 5nm. These are the process nodes that chip makers have to manufacture components like mobile chipsets. For Samsung, new reports claim that Samsung could be looking to skip the 4nm process and go straight for 3nm in other to beat TSMC to the punch.

MediaTek has been getting a lot of buzz this month. It was just last week when the company unveiled the Helio G85 and Dimensity 1000+ chipsets. Now, MediaTek is gearing up for another event on 18 May 2020 for the launch of another Dimensity series chipset.

Some may have been surprised when Xiaomi unveiled its new Redmi Note 9 series last week, as it came with a new Helio G85 chipset from MediaTek. The company has now unveiled the details behind its new chipset, which is geared towards mobile gaming. This chipset is essentially an upgrade of the Helio G80, with a few extras on top of it.

If you recall, there was a rumour yesterday that Google may be working on a new custom CPU for its Pixel devices with Samsung. The latter used to make its own Exynos chipsets for its devices until it decided to shut down its custom CPU division last year. However, it seems that Samsung may still have a few Mongoose custom CPUs up its sleeves.

Mid-range smartphones are about to get a powerful chipset next year, with MediaTek announcing a new one. Previously, we have posted the news on how we can expect 5G MediaTek chipsets to appear within Q1 2020. But during a press conference recently when the Dimensity 800 chipset was introduced, the company has confirmed that there will be a demo for it at next year's Consumer Electronics Show.
