Annuar Musa: 12 million users in Malaysia to enjoy 5G network access by year-end

Caretaker Minister of Communications and Multimedia Tan Sri Annuar Musa has announced that approximately 12 million users in our country will enjoy 5G connectivity by the end of 2022. This is following the signing of the 5G access agreement with Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) by 5 out of 6 local telco companies.

According to Bernama, Annuar revealed that the 5 companies are Celcom Networks Sdn Bhd, Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd, U Mobile Sdn Bhd, YTL Communications (Yes) and Telekom Malaysia (TM). As we’ve reported yesterday, Maxis is the remaining telco company that has yet to sign the agreement, asserting that its board is still assessing the governance requirements for the 5G access agreement. 

The caretaker Communications Minister then elaborated that following the agreement, the 5 aforementioned telco companies can provide end users with immediate access to 5G.
