Instagram was the main culprit for overheating the iPhone 15 Pros, according to this YouTuber

It's been almost a week since Apple released iOS 17.0.3 to fix the overheating issue. That was a hot topic among iPhone 15 Pro users after the launch and the update seems to have solved it. However, it appears that the true culprit behind the overheating was Instagram instead of the iPhone 15 Pros.

According to iPhonedo, a YouTube tech channel, the host did a series of tests on the iPhone 15 Pro Max and while preparing his review, the iPhone didn't really overheat until Instagram came into the picture. When Instragram version 300 was released, many iPhone users were affected by it and began to siphon and heat up the battery heavily. In iPhonedo's case, his iPhone's battery heat went up to 114°F (45.5 Celsius).

On top of that, his iPhone 14, iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 models, as well as his three other iPads were experiencing overheating issues with the aforementioned Instagram update. To prove this, he did another test (check the video here) with iOS 16 on a previous iPhone model and used a thermometer scanner. The moment his Instagram app was opened, the heat increased dramatically.

Reports said that Apple had contacted Instagram to work on this issue back then. The update by Instagram released version 303.3 has fixed the overheating issue. iPhonedo said as long as you have version 303.3 and above alongside iOS 17.0.3, there shouldn't be any more problems with the battery heat.
