Zoom now has passwords and waiting rooms to prevent Zoombombing

It certainly hasn't been an easy time for Zoom lately. The company was not only caught sending data to Facebook from its iOS app but also plagued by cheeky people who have taken to 'Zoombombing' meetings. However, Zoom has been quick in creating solutions and has made changes to help eliminate the chances of Zoombombing.

Zoom already has passwords enabled by default for new meetings. Now, you can also enable password when scheduling meetings. This will be applicable for both free and paid users. What's new is the Waiting Rooms system, which requires people joining a meeting to wait for the host to allow them to join the 'room'. In other words, hosts will now have more control over who accesses their meetings.

While this will make the whole Zoom experience less seamless, it has become a necessity due to privacy issues that have occurred recently. Zoom has already benefited from the increased number of people beginning to use its service, so it's time for the company to start tightening up its security and privacy. Already, schools in the USA have started to ban the use of the service and more may follow.

If you can't trust Zoom, check out the other eight alternatives. You can even try Skype's Meet Now feature, which works like Zoom.
