This Saturday, Blackberry announced a new secured tablet in the market called the Blackberry SecuTablet. The device will come with encrypted apps and software and will be targeted at customers such as corporations and governments. This is not the first time Blackberry has released a tablet in the market, as it had unveiled the Blackberry Playbook back in 2011. However, the device didn't see much success and was eventually scrapped. Now, the Canadian company is back in the tablet industry but this time, it is not alone. Blackberry has joined hands with Samsung and IBM to develop the SecuTablet. The device is based on Samsung's Galaxy Tab S 10.5 (so it looks and feels exactly the same) and is developed by Blackberry's sister unit, Secusmart. Samsung is involved in the development of hardware while IBM takes care of separating the work apps from the personal ones in a secure environment. The announcement of the SecuTablet is in line with the company's recent efforts to expand its base with business and government customers. In fact, its Secusmart encryption technology is already used by the Canadian and German government agencies. All the secured features of the tablet will take its price to $2350 (RM8701). It is highly unlikely that the SecuTablet will get a Malaysia release anytime soon unless of course the Malaysian Government deecides to go BlackBerry.

While it is already available through third-party sellers like SatuGadgetDotCom and DirectD, the Meizu M1 Note could soon be coming to Malaysia officially. This news comes courtesy of Meizu themselves through their MeizuMart web store. While they didn't name Malaysia specifically, they did say that the M1 Note will be available globally soon. They also didn't name the price but we expect it to be from CNY999 (RM592) which is how much it is priced in China. Tech specs for the M1 Note are quite high-end with an octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, 5.5-inch full HD display, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, 4G LTE and dual SIM support. These features are quite similar to the Honor 4X which is also expected to arrive in Malaysia very soon. Incidentally, the M1 Note is being priced from RM659 so if you'd like to pick up a set earlier, the price difference isn't that big.

Set for announcement on 15 April 2015, we shouldn't have to wait long to find out for sure.

Most smartwatches and fitness trackers don't really look like traditional hand-crafted watches but it looks like Malaysia could soon be getting one that combines both values with the imminent arrival of the Horological Smartwatch by Frederique Constant, Geneva. Powered by MotionX technology, this handcrafted watch will track your daily activities including steps, distance and calories along with accurate tracking of your sleep patterns. Designed for both Apple iOS and Android devices, the Horological smartwatch works well with both, syncing your tracking information for indepth graphs and charts. The Horological Smartwatch will come in 4 versions for both men and women and features a 2 year battery life, sleep cycle alarms when your sleep goes off course, get-active alerts when you stay still too long and more. One feature which we found interesting was the Always-on Time & Date which automatically sets your time and date depending on your location, so if you travel to another country, you don't have to wind it manually like a traditional watch. Although there are no specific Malaysia release dates or pricing details, the Horological Smartwatch is expected to arrive in Malaysia sometime in June 2015 and it is priced at Swiss Franc 1295 (RM4744) in Switzerland.

Nikon has recently updated its Coolpix lineup with a new superzoom camera called the Nikon Coolpix P900. This particular device features 83x zoom putting almost every other high zoom point and shoot cameras to shame. The 83x zoom on the P900 has a range from 24mm up to 2000mm. It is a pretty impressive feat to incorporate such a high zoom on a compact point and shoot camera. You can even take things a bit further, by going up to 166x zoom with its digital Dynamic Fine Zoom feature. There will be a 16MP CMOS camera onboard which supports continuous shoot up to 7fps. The camera is even good for action shoot as it has a shutter lag time of just 0.12second at wide angle and 0.75 seconds at its maximum telephoto focal length. It's built-in Dual Detect Optical VR stabilization tech reduces blue via shake to a great extent. Other important features of the device include scene mode, filter mode, macro mode, 1080p video recording with stereo audio, zoom microphone etc. The new Nikon Coolpix P900 will be available for sale from April 2015 for a price tag of $600 (RM2178). No Malaysia release dates or pricing details have been revealed for now but we expect it to come soon.
