A week ahead of MWC 2015, LG have announced 4 new smartphones for the midrange with the LG Magna, Spirit, Leon and Joy. All four will be available in LTE and 3G versions and share a metallic back with a curved design for a sleeker profile. Tech specs range from the LG Magna with a 5-inch display, to the 4.7-inch display LG Spirit and 4.5-inch display LG Leon. These three will share features like Android 5.0 Lollipop, an 8MP rear camera and 5MP front camera with some lower end variations for different model types. The LG Joy on the other hand will be the entry-level version with a 4-inch display, 5MP rear camera, VGA front camera, 1GB RAM and 8GB storage but it will still support 4G LTE and have a version that comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop as well. The phones will feature LG UX functions like Gesture Shot, Glance View and others. No news on Malaysia release dates or pricing but due to LG's rather weak presence here in Malaysia, we expect these to only show up at third-party sellers.

Lenovo is rumoured to be coming out with at least 5 new smartphones for the upcoming MWC 2015 (which is set for just next week). These could include the Lenovo Vibe X3, Vibe S1, Vibe P1, Vibe P1 Pro, Vibe Shot and now the Vibe Max. Tech specs for the Vibe Max stand out somewhat as these are rumoured to include a 6-inch 2K or 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution display, fingerprint sensor, NFC and be the first Lenovo Android smartphone to support a stylus. Unfortunately, there are no details or leaked pics for the Vibe Max just yet, but it should follow the same rounded corners with metallic trim for most of the other Lenovo Vibe range or it could go for the layered design like the Vibe X2. No Malaysia release dates or pricing details but again, MWC 2015 is just next week. We shouldn't have to wait long to find out more.

Set for announcement at MWC 2015, leaked pics of the Huawei P8 have surfaced, showing bits and pieces of the smartphone encased in a casing of some sort. The casing hides much but we expect the P8 to be thinner than the P7 and have a mostly metallic body. Huawei have indicated that they would be doing more premium products so tech specs and features for the P8 should probably be high-end as well. No confirmed tech specs yet but the P8 is expected to get a 2GHz Kirin 930 processor, 3GB RAM, 64GB storage, 5.2-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution, 13MP rear camera, 8MP front camera and Android 5.0. Early AnTuTu benchmarks reveal a score of 47426, which is about as high as the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. No Malaysia release dates or pricing details yet but we should find out more next week.

Samsung has been going on a teaser video frenzy lately for the upcoming Samsung Unpacked event with most of them on the SamsungMobile twitter channel. Many are expecting the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge to make an appearance and from all the hints in the teasers this could well be so. While no actual tech specs or features are mentioned the teasers do indicate that we could see an all metal or premium body, intelligent camera, front stereo speakers, curved borderless displays, wireless charging and an experience like no other. Unfortunately, we've heard all that before for the previous Samsung Galaxy flagships. Thankfully, we won't have to wait long to find out as the next Samsung Unpacked event is set for 1 March 2015, which is just next week. Check out the teaser video below for yourself.

A while back, Microsoft said that we'd be seeing $100 (RM365) Windows 8 tablets before long and it appears that they are already here. Granted, the more well known HP Stream 7 which was recently offered for $79 (RM288) is only available at the Microsoft US store. However, a quick search at mobile market sites like Lelong.com.my and others reveal Windows 8.1 tablets being sold for as low as RM320. Yes, these are unheard of brands like Pipo and Cube or even Ainol but the tech specs are nothing to sneeze at. These include a 64-bit Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB storage and features like a 1-year free subscription of Office 365. Be warned though, these are devices brought in without any international warranty but those looking for a more affordable computing tablet could give such devices a go. Build quality could also be suspect but you do get what you pay for. Still no chances for a RM100 Windows tablet yet, but there could still be hope for the HP Stream 7 to come to Malaysia eventually. In related news, Intel Malaysia are pushing various Malaysian-based Intel powered tablets at slightly higher pricing and local warranty with the latest being the iPro LivePad 8.9 tablet at RM699.

No Malaysia release dates or pricing details yet but we expect the Lenovo Vibe Shot to make an appearance at the upcoming MWC 2015.

Initially announced for $199 with 64-bit processors and other improved tech specs, the ASUS ZenFone 2 has been spotted up for pre-order ahead of any official release. The bad news? It seems that the $199 price tag is for the 5-inch display ASUS ZenFone 2. The larger 5.5-inch display versions will start pre-order pricing from $299 while the 4GB RAM equipped version will be priced from $439. While these are not bad prices for the hardware being offered, we can just hear the sighs of disappointment from all the Malaysians who were waiting for a better value smartphone. That being said, ASUS Malaysia could still offer some interesting pricing so don't despair so soon. No Malaysia release dates but as before, we expect a regional launch in late March or April 2015.

The Neptune Pine smartwatch was a successfully funded kick starter project and featured a large 2.4-inch display and decent internal tech specs. Unlike other smart watches it was practically a smartphone on your wrist. Now, the same company is all set to launch another smartwatch in the market, this time with an external display. The new watch called the Neptune Duo will feature two different components, a smartwatch and a companion pocket screen that acts as an external display to the watch. The Neptune Hub, which is the smartwatch will feature a 2.4-inch display with a band like design which makes it look less bulky. Inside, there is a quad-core processor with features such as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and even NFC. The Pocket Screen will sport a 5-inch 720p display with an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front facing shooter. There will be a 2800 mAh battery onboard, which means the user will have 3800 mAh capacity battery in total including the one in the smartwatch. This additional battery can be used to charge the Hub several times, giving it a few days worth battery life if you don't mind carrying a monitor for your smart watch. The Neptune Duo will start shipping sometime later this year for a price tag of $768 (RM2786) which is quite high in comparison to the earlier Neptune Pine.
