The age of the powerful mini cameraphones is upon us as rumours of another mini smartphone with powerful tech specs has surfaced. This time it comes from China and the mini cameraphone in question could be based on the Nokia Lumia 1520. So far, this mini version could be called the Nokia Lumia 1520V but like the recently introduced Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, tech specs for this mini cameraphone are impressive. These tech specs and features include a 4.3-inch screeen with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution, 2GB of RAM, 32GB storage, a 3000 mAh battery and a 14MP PureView rear camera. No news on how much it might cost or possible Malaysia release dates but for now you can check out the blurry shot below.

The Samsung Galaxy Core range has always been about afordable smartphones with relatively good tech specs and features. This trend continues with the newly announced Samsung Galaxy Core Advance but with a larger 4.7-inch display. It joins the Galaxy Core and Galaxy Core Plus with rather "old" tech specs that include a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage + microSD, 5MP rear camera, VGA front camera and a 2000 mAh battery. While it doesn't support 4G LTE, it does have NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi b/g/n and GPS (GLONASS) features. The Galaxy Core Advance has rather standard looks (a lot like a Samsung Galaxy S3 actually) with a normal 9.7mm thinness and 145g weight. Running on Android 4.2 it also comes with a number of S features as well including S Translator, Group Play, Sound & Shot and others. The good news is that the Galaxy Core Advance has a lot of physical buttons, so you also have a dedicated camera button included. Unfortunately, no Malaysia pricing or release dates are available just yet, but it should be within the same below-RM1000 price range as the other Galaxy Core smartphones.

Asus has officially announced the PadFone Mini 4.3 as part of their range of smartphone in a tablet combo range. Previous PadFones had 10.1-inch tablets but perhaps due to the smaller nature of the PadFone Mini 4.3, the tablet that it comes with now has a 7-inch display. Other tech specs and features include a 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, 4.3-inch display with 960 x 540 pixel resolution, 16GB storage + microSD, 8MP rear camera + 16fps burst mode + f/2.0 aperture, Dual-SIM support and a 1500 mAh battery. The tablet part offers a 7-inch display with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and an extra 2200 mAh battery which even lets you recharge the smartphone using the tablet battery. The combo runs on Android 4.3 and will be priced at NTD11900 (RM1298). No exact Malaysia release dates or pricing details were available but we expect the Asus PadFone Mini 4.3 to make it's Malaysian debut soon hopefully at a similar price. For now, check out the video in this article.

After some minor bugs due to the Android 4.3 update, Samsung Galaxy SIII users can now continue their updates as Samsung have announced the updating process to resume. While this is all good news for Samsung Galaxy SIII users in Malaysia as well, the more interesting news is that after the update, you can finally use the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch with the Samsung Galaxy SIII. Do note, some functions which can only be found on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 are not available for SIII users even with the update. In related news, Android 4.4 looks to be coming to Samsung users as early as March or April 2014, so stay tuned.

Well, even presidents can be wrong sometimes, as the Huawei Ascend P6S has leaked once more, this time in semi-official Tenna certification complete with pictures. The certification also comes with tech specs and we unfortunately cannot find any octa-core processor or chipset as was initially reported. While it maintaines almost the same profile down to the 120g weight, it is actually 0.3mm thicker but maintains the same 4.7-inch IPS display with 720p resolutions. While it isn't packing MediaTek's Octa-core solution it will use a new Huawei chipset with 28nm fabrication. Again, it is still unconfirmed whether this would be the K3V2+ or the latest HiSilicon K3V3 but either would be less than the hoped-for Octa-core processor. The K3V3 uses the ARM big.LITTLE architecture with 1.8GHz dual-core Cortex A15 and 1.2GHz dual-core Cortex A7 processors which technically makes it a quad-core processor that operates with only one dual-core processor at a time. Other tech specs include a Mali-T658 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 8MP rear camera, 5MP front camera and Android 4.2.2. Feeling a bit let down? Well, so were we, but at least it is rumoured to get Android 4.4 Kit Kat as well. No pricing details or Malaysia release dates yet, but the Huawei Ascend P6S is expected in early 2014.

The Samsung Galaxy S III is one of the smartphones recently slated for an official Samsung Android 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware update and has been seeding for the past 2 weeks. However, there have been a number of problems and issues with the update including bricking the smartphone, making it unstable, and other glitches. Samsung has since stopped the seeding and responded with an official statement:
"As we are currently investigating the reported issues with Galaxy S3 4.3 Jelly Bean update, the upgrading service has been temporarily suspended. We are committed to providing customers with the best possible mobile experience, and will ensure to resume the upgrading service at the earliest possibility."
This means you won't be able to update your Samsung Galaxy S III from KIES or the OTA service for now. No news when Samsung could come out with the update as trouble shooting does take some time. Hopefully, Samsung come out with it soon and make sure that all the kinks have been ironed out this time as a buggy updated version of a buggy update will likely just irritate users even more.

The rumour mill for Apple's next iPhone model or models has kicked up another interesting tidbit. While there are already rumours that a 5-inch Apple iPhone 6 could be on it's way, a published report was noted as saying that there will be 2 such versions, one with a 4.7-inch screen and the other with a 5-inch screen. What makes this even more interesting is that the screens will be curved downward at the edges. Other tech specs and features include sensors which would detect the amount of pressure for each touch so it could differentiate between a heavy or light touch. The report goes on further to state that the 2 new larger display curved screen Apple iPhones could be released in Q3 of 2014 which matches with this year's iPhone launch. As normal of such rumours, do take this with a pinch of salt, especially if you've been secretly hoping for a larger iPhone.

Kazam is a company consisting of ex-HTC executives who broke off from the company to create another smartphone company. According to them, they wanted to offer "stunning design, robust hardware, and intuitive technology underpinned with improved customer service". The company has since announced 7 new smartphones, 2 of which are slotted for their higher-end Kazam Thunder range and another 5 for their lower-end Trooper range. Both the Thunder and Trooper models don't really have very impressive tech specs so we're guessing that the Thunder is aimed at the midrange while the Troopers are for the entry-level. So far, tech specs for the Kazam Thunder Q4.5 include a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 4.5-inch 854 x 48 resolution display, 1GB of RAM, 8MP rear camera and 4GB of storage plus microSD support. The other Kazam Thunder will be called the Q5.0 which could have a 5-inch screen but other tech specs for that model haven't been revealed just yet.

While the Apple iPhone 6 is only expected in 2014, already rumours have surfaced regarding this smartphone. This time around rumour mongers are almost certain that Apple will increase the screen size to a 4.8-inch display compared to the current 4-inch display, which is rather dated compared to other smartphones which have gone to 4.5-inch to 4.7-inch or all the way to 5-inch displays. The rumour comes courtesy of various analysts mentioning a larger screen Apple iPhone. Like all rumours for next year, we advocate that you take a big pinch of salt with this as it seems more like wishful thinking than anything concrete, and so much can change in a year. Unfortunately, no other tech specs or exact Malaysia release dates details were available but stay tuned and we'll keep you posted.
