After some minor bugs due to the Android 4.3 update, Samsung Galaxy SIII users can now continue their updates as Samsung have announced the updating process to resume. While this is all good news for Samsung Galaxy SIII users in Malaysia as well, the more interesting news is that after the update, you can finally use the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch with the Samsung Galaxy SIII. Do note, some functions which can only be found on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 are not available for SIII users even with the update. In related news, Android 4.4 looks to be coming to Samsung users as early as March or April 2014, so stay tuned.

The Samsung Galaxy S III is one of the smartphones recently slated for an official Samsung Android 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware update and has been seeding for the past 2 weeks. However, there have been a number of problems and issues with the update including bricking the smartphone, making it unstable, and other glitches. Samsung has since stopped the seeding and responded with an official statement:
"As we are currently investigating the reported issues with Galaxy S3 4.3 Jelly Bean update, the upgrading service has been temporarily suspended. We are committed to providing customers with the best possible mobile experience, and will ensure to resume the upgrading service at the earliest possibility."
This means you won't be able to update your Samsung Galaxy S III from KIES or the OTA service for now. No news when Samsung could come out with the update as trouble shooting does take some time. Hopefully, Samsung come out with it soon and make sure that all the kinks have been ironed out this time as a buggy updated version of a buggy update will likely just irritate users even more.

Kazam is a company consisting of ex-HTC executives who broke off from the company to create another smartphone company. According to them, they wanted to offer "stunning design, robust hardware, and intuitive technology underpinned with improved customer service". The company has since announced 7 new smartphones, 2 of which are slotted for their higher-end Kazam Thunder range and another 5 for their lower-end Trooper range. Both the Thunder and Trooper models don't really have very impressive tech specs so we're guessing that the Thunder is aimed at the midrange while the Troopers are for the entry-level. So far, tech specs for the Kazam Thunder Q4.5 include a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 4.5-inch 854 x 48 resolution display, 1GB of RAM, 8MP rear camera and 4GB of storage plus microSD support. The other Kazam Thunder will be called the Q5.0 which could have a 5-inch screen but other tech specs for that model haven't been revealed just yet.

The Android operating system is nearly synonymous with Google, however, there is a small watch company who is actually named Android, and they are looking to release a smartwatch designed for Android smartphones next month. Bear in mind that this is not the rumoured Google smartwatch nor is the Android watch company in any way affiliated with Google but it has been in the watch industry for years, which is probably why there hasn't been any legal issue with Google. As it is the Android smartwatch looks to be another bluetooth remote control and follows the now standard slab of touchscreen on a strap smartwatch design. According to the features list the smartwatch can answer calls, show you calls and messages, has a pedometer, calculator, chronograph and calendar function and lets you stream and control music from your smartphone. You can also record a voice memo, but apart from that there don't seem to be any other functions. Unfortunately, the features list didn't have any tech specs or specifications listed so we can only assume that it is just another Bluetooth remote control. We also assume it should work for any Android smartphone with Bluetooth as the video shows it interfacing with the Samsung Galaxy S4 but it could just as well work with iOS provided there is an app for it. The Android smartwatch is due in December 2013 but there wasn't any specific Malaysia release date or pricing. The Android smartwatch will be available in black, blue, orange, red and white.

While it is currently the most feature-filled smartwatch from a big company on the market, the Samsung Galaxy Gearis still far from being the smartwatch that everyone wants. However, it turns out that this could be partly due to the limitations that Samsung have put on it, as the guys from Ars Technica have hacked the smartwatch to run Android 4.2.2 and even play a game of Candy Crush. Utilizing a technique called side-loading through ADB and USB debugging enabled, they not only loaded some full apps, they even watched some videos on the tiny 1.6-inch screen. However, since the tech specs of the Galaxy Gear just consist of an 800MHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB storage and no WiFi, what you can do or install on the smartwatch is still very limited.

While initially Microsoft was rumoured to have approached HTC about loading Windows Phone on Android, it appears that HTC wasn't the only one Microsoft talked to. According to reports, Microsoft have also approached Samsung and Huawei with Windows Phone OS for smartphones and Windows RT for tablet for free as an incentive. They have also supposedly added on compensation for the required adaptation costs. While none of the above parties have really confirmed anything, a rumoured 12.1-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab which can dual-boot between Windows RT and Android is supposedly on the way. Tech specs for this device include very high pixel resolutions, a super thin plastic chassis made to look like metal (probably a chrome finish) and is supposedly very fast. Most of this info comes from Russion blogger Eldar Murtazin, who has mostly been accurate when it comes to Nokia - Microsoft related rumours. However, he was wrong about Tizen so take this rumour again with a pinch of salt. No Malaysia release dates or pricing just yet though.

Tesco PLC has just announced a new tablet under the Tesco name called the Hudl. The 7-inch Android tablet has some reasonable tech specs including a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 16GB of storage and Android 4.2 but what is the most shocking feature is probably it's price which is just GBP119 (RM612). While the only version of the Hudl currently available just has WiFi it is priced low enough to cause some serious competition for other better known tablet brands like Acer and Asus. However, Tesco have not indicated what their plans are for the tablet just yet. The move underscores what many in the industry are seeing, more and more previously unknown brands jumping onto the tablet bandwagon thanks to more OEM tablet makers (mostly from China). So far, the Hudl is expected in the UK from 30 September 2013 but we have no news on Malaysia pricing or Malaysia release dates just yet. Hopefully, other supermarket brands in Malaysia catch on soon too.
