Canon has just made sharing captured images and videos from its cameras a lot easier. The Japanese multinational was present at CES 2015 and unveiled a new media sharing hub called the Canon Connect Station CS100. This is not a surprising announcement from the company as a similar device was rumored to hit the markets a few months back, which went by the name of Canon Cross Media Station. The CS100 looks like the refined version of this earlier leaked product. Canon markets the hub as a photo storage device, but it can do much more than just storing images and videos. The hub lets users transfer, view and share the content inside on a large screen TV or even a monitor with an HDMI connection. Transferring images and videos on this networked hub is easy, thanks to the NFC support and the inbuilt SD card, USB and Ethernet ports. The station offers a 1TB hard drive, Wi-Fi, NFC and a wireless remote. The provided software sorts the images and videos by the date, camera model and custom albums. With more NFC enabled cameras entering the market, the Canon Connect Station CS100 could prove a valuable addition to your gadget list. Canon will launch the storage station sometime in June 2015 for $299 (RM1070). No plans for a Malaysia release date have been announced so far.

There are other cheaper models too in the range like the PowerShot SX710 HS and SX610 which feature 30x and 18x zoom and retail for $350 (RM1252) and $250 (RM894) respectively. The costlier VIXIA HF R62 features a larger battery and retails for $430 (RM1538) as opposed to the $400 (RM1430) VIXIA R60. Finally, the VIXIA HF R600 is the cheapest of the lot at $300 (RM1073). Canon has managed to reduce the price by removing wireless connectivity in this model. Everyone is on a tighter budget these days, even photographers and in line with that, Canon have announced the Canon EOS Rebel T5 which is an affordable DSLR that comes with an 18-55mm lens at just $550. The camera is by no means a pushover and comes with a fairly capable 18MP APS-C CMOS sensor, DIGIC 4 processor, 9-point AF system, ISO 100~12800 and 1080p at 30fps video recording. While these are all the more notable tech specs and features available the fact that it comes with an 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens for just $550 (RM1825) is certainly a very tempting offer. While there isn't any official Malaysia pricing just yet, you should be able to expect the compact Canon EOS Rebel T5 in Malaysia sometime in or after March 2014.

The Canon EOS M2 was officially launched recently and one of the main features it brings to the table is a much faster auto focus speed at 2.3x compared to the original Canon EOS M. According to Canon this is due to the Hybrid CMOS AF II system on the EOS M2 but the same APS-C sensor is still there. Canon have solved some issues found with the EOS M like the blacked-out screen after taking a photo as well. Other tech specs and features include Wifi connectivity and wireless sharing of images but the overall body design remains the same. While we're still not sure what lens it will arrive with (despite there being not very many to choose from), you can get it with a lens at 84800 yen (RM2659). If you already have compatible lens for this mirrorless camera then you can just get the body for 64800 yen (RM2032). For now the Canon EOS M2 will be available in Japan but it should reach Malaysia eventually, perhaps in early 2014.

Canon recently announced their new PowerShot SX510 HS and SX170 IS superzooms for the masses. On the one hand the Canon PowerShot SX510 HS is designed for the compact user while the Canon PowerShot SX170 IS is targeted at the full-size superzoom digital camera user. According to Canon the SX510 will be available for $249.99 (RM827.47) while the SX170 will be sold for $179.99 (RM595.77). Both will be available in markets like Malaysia in September 2013.
