It has resurfaced once again in a recent interview, but Apple CEO Tim Cook has downplayed reports suggesting he is preparing to step down. In an interview with Good Morning America, Cook described claims about his retirement as “a rumour”, pushing back against growing chatter about a potential leadership transition.

Looks like things are getting more interesting at Apple. Tim Cook's era as Apple CEO is expected to end this year, with rumours about it having been heard since the end of 2025. So, what should you know about it?

In October, there was a piece of news that Apple could be eyeing a new successor to Tim Cook. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his latest newsletter, internal indicators at Apple show “few signs” that Cook is preparing to leave anytime soon, and he may continue leading the company well beyond the next product milestone.

Apple CEO Tim Cook recently held a rare all-hands meeting at the Steve Jobs Theatre on 1 August 2025, where he called on employees to embrace artificial intelligence as a strategic priority.
