With the month of September, we once again look back for an overview of the devices that were launched in August 2020. There weren't as many smartphones this time, but it was a month packed with some major releases. So what were the smartphones that were launched in August 2020? Check out the list below!

Despite the competitiveness in the smartphone industry, there are actually some brands who choose to skip Malaysia as a potential market. So in celebration of Merdeka, these are the smartphone series that never came to Malaysia (lol). To make the criteria clear, imported versions do not count so it must have an official smartphone launch just like how Samsung Malaysia, Huawei Malaysia and others do it. You get the idea, here we go!

It seems that the ASUS ZenFone 7 series, which consists of the ZenFone 7 as well as the ZenFone 7 Pro has been unveiled starting from the price of 21990 NT$ (~RM3123). While there is no news on the Malaysia release date and local pricing, we do know that it will most likely be priced cheaper than Taiwan.

It seems that a hands-on video of the ASUS ZenFone 7 has recently been spotted showcasing the design of the smartphone, as well as the flip mechanism of the camera. While not much is known in regards to the Malaysia release date, we do know that it will not feature a display with a refresh rate of higher than 60Hz in order to reduce the price.

While not much is known in regards to the Malaysia release date, our source did mention that the ZenFone 7 will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, while the Pro variant will have the Snapdragon 865 Plus instead.

Based on a statement by ReaMeizu, it seems that the upcoming ASUS ZenFone 7 will come equipped with a 60Hz LCD display, which is quite surprising since most smartphones manufacturers are adopting higher refresh rate displays. While not much is known in regards to the Malaysia release date and local pricing, another source did mention that it is most likely to reduce the price of the smartphone.

After launching the ROG Phone 3, ASUS is going to be back with another highly-anticipated smartphone which is the ZenFone 7 on 26 August. This time, the ZenFone 7 will not be the only device that is going to be launched, as it will bring another Pro variant with it as well. Today, a model from the series was found on Geekbench listing before the launch confirming a rumour that came out earlier.

The last time we saw ASUS ZenFone 7 series is because the devices have gotten their Bluetooth SIG certifications. With that happened, many are expecting the ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro to be launched soon. Now, the event for the launch has been officially confirmed and it's going to happen on 26 August in Taiwan.

It's said that ASUS will be launching the ZenFone 7 and ROG Phone 3 by early Q3 2020. We already know that the latter is going to be unveiled this Wednesday (22 July), but will ASUS launch the ZenFone 7 series on the same day? Regardless, news of the ZenFone 7 has also been trickling in and sources claim that the ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro won't have the same chipset.
