The latest generation of the AirPods, the AirPods 3 is apparently not as successful as what Apple hoped it to be. So much so, that the tech giant is allegedly cutting orders of the true wireless earbuds from its suppliers by over 30 percent for the second and third quarter of 2022.

Shared by reliable tipster regarding everything Apple, Ming-Chi Kuo on Twitter, it is alleged that the demand for the latest generation AirPods is ‘significantly weaker’ than for its predecessor. Kuo further claimed that this was due to failed product segmentation strategy by Apple.

It's incredible when you think about it, but rumours of the Apple AirPods 3 appeared as early as February 2021. This proves that companies take time to launch their products. Most rumours that far back shouldn't be taken too seriously because things can change, but the latest one about the launch window could be accurate.

The launch date for the Apple AirPods 3 has changed a few times in the last few months. Last year, analysts claimed that it will be mass-produced in early 2021 before launching soon after. It was then changed to May 2021, and now it's expected to be a Q3 2021 launch.

Earlier this year, it was suggested that Apple would be launching a new AirPods model in H1 2021. Some say this should be the AirPods 3, while others claim it will be a new AirPods Pro. Based on new rumours, the former is more likely. However, the launch is probably not happening anytime soon.

The next Apple Event will be happening in just a few days. Not only bringing the 2021 iPads, but the company might also present the AirPods 3 and Apple Pencil 3 at the press event titled "Spring Loaded". Before that happens, a video has been leaked as well showing the new Apple Pencil is returning with a glossy design.

Recently, Apple postponed its next big launch to next month. The event was originally supposed to showcase the AirPods 3, but it's clear the product isn't ready. Now, it's believed that wireless earbuds won't be available till later this year.
