    The HUAWEI Ban was signed in May 2019 declaring a national security risk emergency that banned U.S. companies from using telecommunications equipment made by Chinese firms has not come to an end yet. President Donald Trump has just announced another year of extension on the ban until May 2021.

    Since Huawei was placed on the US Entity list last year, Google was banned from working with the company. Recently, Google has reportedly applied for a license with the US government to be able to work with Huawei again.

    In an apparent U-Turn from US President Donald Trump’s earlier supposed intervention, the US administration has released an early publication of a rule that will ban all new contracts or buying of equipment from Huawei, ZTE and a number of other Chinese companies starting from 13 August 2019. The rule further states that these companies are still allowed to service previous infrastructure (the old US networks in various rural towns) as long as they provide full disclosure but only until August 2021, so it’s not a complete ban, but just one that benefits the US government (how surprising, lol).

    After the recent announcements by both US President Donald Trump and subsequently various White House officials, he has agreed to expedite or make ‘timely’ decisions (basically hurry it up) regarding special licenses for US companies like Google to sell to Huawei. Initially, US President Donald Trump said that Huawei would be allowed to do so, but afterwards White House officials said otherwise

    While US President Donald Trump recently said that Huawei could continue buying products from US companies, Larry Kudlow, National Economic Council chairman said that these “are selling products that are widely available from other countries ... This is not a general amnesty ... The national security concerns will remain paramount.” This means that Huawei will likely remain on the US Entity List and this was further confirmed with his comment “All that is going to happen is Commerce will grant some additional licenses where there is a general availability”.
