As reported from a Gfk market research study, a majority of Malaysians seem to favour midrange smartphones more now. That seems to be true nowadays as many flagship smartphones today seem to require your selling your kidney just to own one. Midrangers, which we define as from RM800 to RM1300, are getting better every month and if you're hunting for such a smartphone, here are our Top 5 Midrange Trending Smartphones so far in no particular order.

Will there be a Moto G5S Plus? According to rumours, you bet there will be. In fact, new images of the phones have surfaced online giving us a good look at what to expect. With the given rumoured tech-specs, the Moto G5S Plus seems to be an even better version than the Moto G5 Plus, which we consider is a good camera-centric device (check out our review here).

For a RM1299 smartphone, the Moto G5 Plus features some respectable tech-specs namely a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor and an Adreno 506 GPU, the 5.2-inch FHD display can run in 1080p and even capture 4K video footage, battery is only 3000mAh but at least it has a TurboCharger that enable the phone to stay awake for 6 hours in just 15 minutes of charging. The main camera also has a Dual Autofocus Pixels with f/1.7 aperture. Well, check out our unboxing and hands-on video below:

“Wait, Motorola is still around?” said one of my friends when I showed them the Moto G5 Plus. Yes, that’s how “light” it is when it comes to brand presence. In a country like Malaysia, where we are surrounded by Apple, Samsung, and Huawei billboard advertisements, Motorola is like one of those kids who aren’t in the current cool gang, even though they were the former trendsetters who made the first mobile phone. However, Motorola is making a comeback in Malaysia (particularly with how the Moto Z2 Play event went recently) which you can see with our review of the Moto G5 Plus below.

Lenovo had been rumoured to launch some new phones during MWC2017, which would very well be the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus mid-range devices. The latest leak includes what seems like official press renders, with all the information including full specs and more photos of the pair of phones, all, except pricing information.
Being the “Plus” model, the Moto G5 Plus will be obviously be the higher-end model between the two. It comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD (1080p) display, 12MP main camera with dual pixel autofocus, Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, generous 64GB of internal storage, and NFC. Keeping the lights on is a 3000mAh battery with “TurboPower" charger.
The Moto G5, being the smaller sibling, has a slightly smaller 5-inch display (though it retains the Full HD 1080p resolution), a 13MP PDAF main camera, Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset, 32GB of expandable storage, as well a 2800mAh battery with 10W rapid charger. There is however, no NFC with the Moto G5.
