If you were wondering why Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger couldn’t load, here’s why. According to DownDetector, the services were down at around 8PM last night and it seems like the outage was global. 

I’m sure you’ve all seen the Status tab on your WhatsApp. It is essentially the same thing as Facebook Stories and Instagram Stories. However, I don’t believe that many people actually use that feature on the app but that may just change.

WhatsApp has announced that starting next year, users will begin to see ads in the messaging app on both Android and iOS. The first ads will be implemented into WhatsApp status, a feature similar to Instagram stories on the app.

A serious vulnerability on Whatsapp has allowed spyware to be installed both Android and iOS devices. The vulnerability was found to have happened through voice calls on the app where the virus was able to install itself onto any device without the users even having to answer the call.

However, we may not be able to communicate with our friends on the Windows phone and older Android and iOS devices as Whatsapp will no longer be available on that device.

Based on a report by thestar.com.my, there will be a feature that will be included in a future called Authentication, which will stop users from taking screenshots of conversations that are determined by the user. That being said, if the other user does not enable the aforementioned feature, they will still be able to take screenshots of the the private chat.

Facebook-owned services such as WhatsApp, Instagram as well as Facebook themselves are currently experiencing technical difficulties causing them to be inaccessible for the time being. The outtage could potentially affect services other than the ones mentioned, so do take note.
