"A cross-platform between Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp, you say?" Yes, it looks like this is going to happen and it's currently in development as we speak. This was discovered by @Alex193a, a reverse engineer when he was checking out some codes inside Messenger, showcasing many "whats_app" files.

It was just last week when we saw that WhatsApp was working on some features like animated stickers, but couldn't confirm when they would be released. Well, that question was answered yesterday when the company announced the new features in a blog post. These are expected to gradually roll out in the coming weeks.

The team developing WhatsApp has certainly been working hard this year. This year alone, the limit on group video calls was expanded, a dark mode was added, and more features are on the way. Recently, it was also revealed that animated stickers will be coming soon.

WhatsApp has been quite busy over the past few months, coming with various updates such as accessing to Messenger Rooms and just recently, a "WhatsApp Pay" feature that has begun in Brazil. But that is just the tip of an iceberg, for in the coming months there will be several new features such as multi-device support, new search tools, storage interface and more.

It is undeniable that WhatsApp is currently the most famous chat service in our country. Not only it can be used to chat, but the app has also offered a business platform for us to perform the buying and selling of goods. Earlier, the Facebook-owned chat service has launched a feature that allows sellers to create business catalogues inside the app. Now, it has been announced that the app can let users perform transactions as well in Brazil.

Based on a statement by threatpost.com, it seems that there is a flaw on WhatsApp which causes the user’s phone number to show up on Google search. Not only that, WhatsApp users will not be able to stop their phone numbers to show up via the wa.me domain, which is also owned by Facebook.

Yesterday, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) announced on their Twitter account that they will start surveying Malaysians soon starting on 5 June until 31 December 2020. The survey is said to be random appearing on WhatsApp and it is regarding the usage of mobile phones, e-commerce and consumer satisfaction rate on mobile broadband and mobile services.

Based on a statement by wabetainfo.com, it seems that it could be possible to share contact info via QR code on WhatsApp very soon. While there is no official information in regards to when the feature will be available to the public, a beta version of WhatsApp with the QR scanning feature is currently available starting from today onwards.

Back at the end of April, Facebook introduced Messenger Rooms where people are allowed to have a video call up to 50 people. That's pretty cool and all considering that most people have Messenger already so they don't need to register at all, and it seems that WhatsApp users will be able to access into that soon!
